Hi, I am LavenderCat, I am pet poor .. two dogs, one is a charity case recovering from hip surgery til we can get him a new home.. he was dropped with a broken hip. two fish tanks. 8 gerbils and I hate to say this but I currently have fourteen cats in my home.. all spayed or neutered, except one.. too young. I rehabilitate most and find great homes for then.. some of the cats have too many problems and no one wants to fool with them or give tham meds so some are permanent residents. I am a softie as are all of you I suppose. It is nice to meet you all and I look forward to making friends here. Your new friend ... Lavender Cat:)

Hi LavenderCat, Welcome. I too have rescued cats but they have usually been starving or kittens. I commend you for taking in special needs cats. To many people would just put them down. I have 4 cats, 4 birds and a dog. I can't wait to hear about your animals. Sherry
hi lavender cat!
i adopted a blue headed pionus parrot named lavender and found it a good home. her nick name was lavy-doodle and her previous owner's little redhaired daughter would sing that 1950's, burl ives, tune "lavender blue, lavender gray" to her and she was the sweetest parrot ever, but i especially loved her name (:. Gee, yet another person to meet that has a bunch of rescues, it make me so sad that we don't have any laws that really protect and monitor the mass population of all these beautiful animals and birds. I have 4 rescues of my own and i have rescued 4 in the past and found them good homes to date, i love cats, however my specialty is parrots. welcome to this site, and i'm happy to hear you have such a big heart.

Hello Lavendar Cat! Though my birds outnumber the cats I have, I love cats as well (though I'm somewhat allergic to them) and have two, though one only drops in every once in a while. My one cat we found on the side of the road in the country, and she was extremely sick at the time. My other one I adopted at a PetsMart. Both are great! Keep up the great work with all your cats!

Welcome Lavander Cat! I never really thought about it - but I guess you could call our cat, April, a rescue. We stopped by the pathmark one day and there she was - the last kitten waiting to be chosen from a shopping cart. She has been the greatest gift to our family ever --- I sometimes wish I could find the person who gave her to us that day and tell her what a wonderful cat she turned out to be. Guess she probably knows because April turned out to have the same personality as the mother cat - as I asked several questions about the mother cat before taking April. I am so GLAD we got her - she is the best!

Hi , everyone again, thank you for your warm welcome. I am pretty happy today. The dog that I was rehabilitating that had the injured hip: well he has a new home now. A nice family took him , they have another dog and a fenced in yard. He was an old beagle that was found by a friend of mine out all alone on a little country road . He had obviously been hit by a car , his hip was completly dislocated. A month later ,all his shots and, a new home. No one claimed him, or responded to the ads. I am just glad that this story had a happy ending.

Well, you are definitly a godsend for these animals. I know surguries are expensive and shots and getting them fixed isn't cheap either. It's nice to hear the beagle went to a good home. You are very special!
