Hello again! I was just wondering if anyone knows the best seatbelts to buy for their dog. I decided it was time to get him one after the 150th time my dog slammed into the back of my seat due to my great aunts love of the breaks. Not to mention I think it should be a law to have dogs over a certin size to have seatbelts. Becaues in an accident that dog will go flying and not only will the dog get hurt or killed but the other people in the car could get injured from it as well. But again to my original question lol does anyone know whats good harness seat belts for dogs, oh and one better, where I can get one lol.

Diego, I found three on-line, but I am not sure if you comfortable with buying on-line. I would think there would be a local place that sells them. It's the law in some states here. The Coastal Easy Rider seems to be the most popular on ratings. Hope this helps :D

You beat me to it Magnum.....Since I don't own dogs I cannot speak from personal exp. Alot of people here in this area like the Ruff Rider. They say it's easier to adjust...and holds up better ! Like I said I have no idea from personal exp. just 2nd hand info !! ;)

But somebody's got to do it !! ROTFLMBO !!! Hey, we all do what we got to do. It's just another day !! Hubby is in the process of getting his lisc. back !!! YAY !!! WE have been fighting it out with the DMV since the end of Dec. Epilepsy only has a 6 month requirement in Georgia for suspension.
After the 6 months are up seizure free of course... Then you are suppose to be able to drive. Hopefully Soon !!!

Awesome Kat, my sister in-law has struggled with epilepsy and has never been able to obtain a driver's license. Let us know the status so we can do a "Happy Dance" :D

No way, no way, no way!!! Not this chickie.....LOL. Just walking down the sidewalks in NY was an eye opener for me. I know some people love the city, but I am for the slooooooooooooooow paced, three cars on the same road considered a traffic jam type of person. :D I would be plucking my feathers if I had to drive in NY. :p

Magnum I prefer the country slow pace too. I told hubby it's either get me away from NJ & NY traffic....or I'll see him divorce court !! So I'm now in Georgia. It's a little built up to my taste....But better than NJ & NY traffic.
But I guess it's all what you are use to.!! Like I said....the words that came out of my mouth Wheeeew !!! LOL ;)

Do you have someone who can show you? I learned eons ago when candy cigarettes were sold at the little league games and pop bottles had to be opened with a church key, or my Pop would bang it on the counter and tick of Ma.......:p

OMGosh, that is so funny about the chicken and egg bit. I was at the airport chewing my fingernails down to nothing (scared to fly) and I was sitting next to these two guys arguing over which came first, the chicken or the egg. They had me ROTFLMBO before I got on the plane. Heck, I actually was half way calm about flying when I boarded....LOL

Back to the subject of doggie seatbelts. You have to be very carefull with them. We got one of those things for my Mom's dog Romeo, and he always managed to get tangled up in it and ended up getting hurt, so we stopped using it.

Here is a good reason to use one: Back when I was a kid we used to live South of Detroit in Trenton. During the summer, my Mom used to drive me up to my Grandparents cottage on Lake Huron, which took about two and a half hours. Well, the dog we had at the time (Scruffy) liked to sleep in the front seat on the passenager side. I was sitting in the back, with my legs stretched out on the seat, sitting behind Scruffy. While we were driving home, in the middle lane, some cretin was in the fast lane and realized that they were about to miss their exit! They totally cut off my Mom, forcing her to slam on the breaks. I go flying into the seat, the dog gets woken up while flying out of her seat and hits her back end on the console of the dashboard. After we coaxed her out from my Mom's feet, she spent the rest of the car ride in the backseat, yipping at the highest pitch man can hear. Did I mention that she was only about three years old when that happened? And that she did that for the remaining times that she was in the car? You also couldn't slow down, or use a turn signal - because then she started barking at a higher frequency, and more frequently. :(

I purchased one back in the summer for my 90 pound shep/lab, the brand is Fourpaws. It is a harness that fits the complete underside of him and then comes up in a cross on his back with a loop to fit the seat belt through. (Sorry the website has no pics to post of it) The straps are padded and fit nice and comfy. The only thing that might be a downfall for some is the under part is lined and I am sure can make your dog hot in the summer, since I am in Alaska this is not really a big deal for me. Dusty loves wearing his harness, he just doesn't like to be belted in if I am not in the truck. I have to replace a seat belt because of him, and he never chews!

Well I wanted to get a padded one. Its easier on their chests.
