View Full Version : Pet Peeve: Unreadable Posts

Many forums have a relaxed posting ettiquette. People can post whatever they wish. This leads to posts that lack proper sentence structure, punctuation, as well as capitalization. Reading these types of posts is difficult at the very least.
I realize that with the advent of the internet people have become relaxed about the correct way to ask a question, or reply to somebody else's query. But this is no excuse for laziness.
Legible grammer, and decent sentence structure should be mandatory. Perhaps the Moderators should see to this.

I am sorry to see that these types of postings are that upsetting to you and to a degree I too believe people should practice good sentence structering as you mention. But, Petlovers is not about crossing your t's or dotting your i's.
Petlovers is here for anyone at all... literate or not to talk about their love and devotion to their pets. We are here to help keep as many pets as possible away from euthanesia, if it be through fostering, sanctuarys etc....and to educate about spaying and nuetering.
I'm sure if you look you will find a forum out there that deals with teaching proper english and spelling, punctuations and whatever else it is that you feel is needed. So maybe you should try to find one of those where you will feel more at ease and not have these irritations that you are experiencing here at Petlovers.
Petlovers needs and wants all these people who have a soft spot in their heart for pets, hence the name PETLOVERS not school.

Boy I hate to read some of my posts !! Wheeew !! If I had to use spellcheck & grammer use. I'd never get to write anything !! I know late at night if I cannot sleep ( BAD ALLERGIES /SINUS ) :p . I get on here waiting for my meds to kick in. I have a tendency to ramble then pretty bad....even more so than now !! LOL Sorry- Kalisandra I guess you will just have to deal with us. Sometimes my fingers type faster than my brain thinks. I hope you can get past your pet peave and join us for some Great Fun... The animals & the friends you make here are much more important.

LOL Guys I don't mean your types of posts. I meant the ones that give NO thought to being readable: An endless paragraph with no periods, or capitalization that doesn't make sense.
From what I can tell most people post well. A few don't seem to care though. It gets very frustrating trying to figure out what a person is talking about when there is just an endless stream of words.

Ah, not to worry Kalisandra....my best advice to you if you run across a post that you are having trouble figuring it out  just pass it up and go on to the ones you can read. It will save you alot of frustration and needless anxiety. :)

Kalisandra , My Grandma use to say....Maybe they just don't know any better !! Anyone got on her nerves ; or just kept doing something stupid over & over she'd say; Well I guess they really don't know any better !!
OR ; Maybe their Momma wasn't around to teach them any better. She said it kept her from going NUTS over other peoples stupidity. LOL !! My Hubby says I should start a cartoon strip about my Grandma. She had quite a few sayings. She was very Wise for someone that only made it to the 5th grade.
I was raised by her & even though she's gone.....memories of her helps get me through tough times.

My biggest problem is I type too fast and sometimes I put spaced in the wrong spots or I mix letters. Since my hands seem to believe is a race to each letter, not really in order. Kal if you can't read something maybe the best thing to do is ask them to explain, maybe they'd write it better or perhaps realize what they wrote.

umm...i dont mean to trivialize your post here or to get you mad at me, but since your post is basically saying that people dont have good sentence structure, i thought i should bring to your attention that this sentence is sort of wrong.
it should read:
"Legible grammar and decent sentence structure should be mandatory. Perhaps the moderator should see to this".
you have grammar spelled wrong and you only need a comma if you are talking about more than two things in the same sentence
im not sure if you did that on purpose to have an effect?
i certainly agree that i am by all means, guilty of poor spelling and capitalization.
however if your making a point that people's grammar and sentence structure be right, the least you could do is get it right yourself.
however i do agree with you that run on sentences and lack of capitalization and lack of punctuation marks are a bit annoying.
hey wait....

... Would have looked horrible, and people woud have had trouble understanding what I was trying to say.

We also have to keep in mind that we have people in this forum that are not from the US and may be struggling with the crazy English language.
I don't really care how someone who loves animals writes their feelings and opinions, as long as they are not hurtful to one another in their posts.

Ahh, no excuses for laziness.... if there were excuses for laziness, what would they be?
1. bad hair day?
2. My cat is having a bad hair day?
3. My doggie decided he wanted extra hugs and kisses while I was trying to type this?
4. My cat will not stop standing in front of the screen so I can type this?
5. My parakeet decided he wants to add a letter or two in also, peck, peck peck peck.
6. My bunny was laying peacefully on my lap and now decides he wants to HOP HOP on my keyboard.
7. God loves you even if you don't use proper english, punctuation and grammer anyway.
8. I want to be lazy today. It's a Good Thing.
9. This is the first time I've been lazy, All Day!
