How do you know.....?

My friend and I got a dog about 3 days ago and the previous owner said she doesn't know if she is pregnant. But she has tits bigger than a usual golden retrievers should have. How do you know is she is pregnant? or can tell if she is? How long are dogs usually pregnant for?

Hi -

A dog's gestational cycle will normally last approx. 63 days. The only way that I can think of to find out if she is pregnant is to take her to the vet. Maybe they can run a blood test.

if she is far enough along the vet can tke xrays and look for puppies.

well Im not sure she doesn't have much of a stomach if she is she would probably be in fist couple of weeks but her tits are bigger than usual.

Sorry, I don't know how you can tell w/out taking her to the vet. Has she ever had a litter before? If she has, sometimes they just have bigger breasts. Keep us updated!

Her stomach will be big if she is in her second month of pregnancy since there gestation is around 2 months (63 days as someone said). Has she been with a male withing the last two months? Sometimes you can feel puppies is she is further along too.

Large teats or saggy boobs do not count. Full ones on the other hand are a dead give away! My little rosie has huge nipples and has never been breed.
