 I have used every kind of flea stuff on the market and nothing works. Eddie my rat is white & black . His skin is real pink and I have a time keeping the fleas away. I can't afford the one's at the vets. Does anyone have an old home remedy? And how can you stop dogs from baking at everyone he sees out the window or anythings that moves?

Thanks,
cat

About the fleas. Feed him garlic with his food. This absolutely works (if he will eat it).
About the barking. This is something that you have to take the time to train your dog out of. It is natural for a dog to bark to warn you that he sees something/someone or simply for attention. You should let him bark a few times then sternly say "Quiet" or "enough". Treat him when he stops. If he continues- no treat. This can take time, and if he barks ALOT you should keep him on a lead so that when he starts sounding off you can move him from the window quickly. This type of training takes alot of time and energy on your part, but is MUCH more humane than the shock collar.
Other than that you could get a barking device from the petstore which makes an obnoxious sound that is diturbing to the dog whenever it barks. This works as well. I guess whatever option you choose has to depend on how much time to have available to work with your baby.

You can use either. Good luck!

Also try bathing him with dish detergent. For some reason it works better than flea shampoo. I have had a real problem this year with fleas. Make sure you treat your yard and house also.

My father n law has coon hounds and he swears by Joy dishwashing liquid for keeping his dogs free from those pesky fleas and also gives them a pretty coat of hair. I did not think of that untill just now.....

I just did the dish soap yesterday to the kitten we found. It really works! The ones that stayed alive for a bit were very easy to get and it amazed me to see dead fleas on the towel. Good luck!
