Prettygirl Died!

:confused: As Of 8:30 tonight Prettygirl died. I went to the hospital for a back problem, and when we came home she was at the bottom of her cage dead. I am so very,very sad I have to go. Gail,

I am so sorry for your loss - Will you havea necropsy done? I know she had a good 'mom' and lotsa love and care - chin up!!

No we won't have any of the above done. I had brought her to the vet about three weeks ago. We buried her in my flower garden. This is no different then losing a family member to me. I am so down right now and sad. I not able to think right. Its been a very,very bad day today. I will miss her so dearly. I can't stop crying. Its too sad.

Thanks for the kisses and hugs. Its a terrible thing to have one of your lovely birds die. All I see, when I close my eyes is her singing. I see the good times too. When I go in the morning I am still looking for her? You know. I have all their food ready, 3 dishes and forget. But, I will make it okay. I knew soon it would happen,I am not good at taking death. Not on my animals, or my family. But I was shocked as h#** to find her that way. Poor Girl, was so thin and all. Well thanxs again Love,Gail

Oh Gail, I'm so sorry to hear about Prettygirl passing away! I hope things start looking brighter for you soon! It is great though to think of what a wonderful, happy life she (he) had with you and the others!

Your right about having her. As the days go by, I get better and better.Pearl by the way laid another egg,the day Pretty girl died. Pearl looks for her. She was becides her all the time. She may have been older then we think. But she had a good life while she was here. I will always miss her, and always think of her. To some, I sound crazy. I mean, I was told, Oh Gail its JUST a parakeet!!!!!!! That made me cry even worse. I am okay. I think some people are mean. I cried when I once about 5 years ago, hit a cat. It was a black cat. Maybe good reason for my bad luck? Just playing. I am throwing all prettygirls cage and toys away. I can't trust if she has somethig others can get. I do worry about the others but I can't think about it right now. I had all the test done. Maybe it was old age? Well rest in peace prettygirl. Love,Gail

Gail, I, too am sorry for your loss. Don't worry about what others think about your grieving. 2 years ago next month, I lost my cat. I cried for a week and everyone told me to get over it, it was just a cat. But to people who have animals, they are our children. Plus, I think people have less of an understanding when they are birds. Your "family" here understands and we're all grieving with you. I ad my hugs with everyone else.

i certainly wouldn't throw a bird cage away. just sterilize it.

Gail: I am glad you are feeling a little better now. I agree that it is hard to lose any pet that we loved and cared for so much (yes even parakeets....I would be distraught if I lost one of mine).

Your other beautiful birds will keep you busy and loved in Prettygirls absence.

If you want to keep her cage, you can sterilize it with bleach and water. On the other hand it is understandable if you want to throw it away so you won't be reminded of your grief.

No I just can't think of that right now. I have Sunni and Pearl. By the way,she just laid her 3rd egg. Wow I wish she would get over this. Anyway no more birds for now.

I hope you are beginning to feel better and remembering good times with prettygirl (boy). I am confused, I thought prettygirl was a cockatiel, and you now are left with two keets. However, Jason's post makes me feel that I am wrong. It is hard to keep everyone's birds straight. Refresh my memory please.
