I know that your suppose to be able to track the breeder by the leg band, but how? I bought Spide from a pet store out here in las vegas, and the band says he's from florida. The three letters are CSP. How do I find out what breeder he came from?

I have been trying to do that with Sophie. However I contacted the place that had her papers and thety said that they wouldn't tell me.

I asked them and they told me it was classified information. I was attempting to find her hatch date. However I will celebrate it on the day I got her. May 5th.

They pet store you got the bird should tell you. I know where and when all of mine came from exept my parakeet, but they are usually not a bird that people care to know where it came from although I would love to know where she came from and her true age as well as her hatch date.

all my birds are a mystery to me...not a band on any of them.

All my other birds are a mystery too. I don't even know how old Pretty really is. I had her for almost 3 years, and the store told me she was 4 months old. I don't know if that was true. Some of there workers don't know what there talking about. I don't mind though. Either way, Pretty is sweetest cockatiel I ever knew, and none of my birds admire me as much as her. I know how old Hayley is, because I got her at ten weeks. I don't know where she came from though.

i just got an african grey and the people told me they bought him from a well known exotic bird store here, so i went to them cause i also wanted to know the hatch date and they said they couldn't help me either!!!! nice how they care about their birds, huh? also they looked at his leg band and it said fx and some numbers and they said oh, that is from florida's exotics, where had some of those a couple of years ago

jakes band says: 003 TUCK 99 CT

he was the 3rd born in 1999 by his breeder, Tucker, who works in connecticut. the petstore i bought him from told me exactly what it meant and then called up the breeder to find out jake's exact hatchdate....may 1st
sam also has a band but his just has a number because he was imported.

i see birds in shops here in egypt with bands on them. i'm assuming they're wild caught birds...not many breeders here. but i've wondered about the bands.

What kind of birds do they sell in Egypt most commonly? Are the bands open or closed? I guess even if they are closed they could be wild-caught because in some places they steal the babies out of the nests then raise them in captivity.
