Don't be sad...or mad! I was only teasing. I truly expected Sen. Kerry to win. I would have been disappointed, but not surprised. The main reason I voted against Sen. Kerry is because he supports partial birth abortion.
I love you!! :)

I am watching ABC. I like Peter Jennings, and they are reluctant to jump the gun to project a winner in states. I was watching on Canadian stations, and they seemed to be repeating the same mistakes that the news networks made four years ago - they had Bush and Kerry in the 200's about three hours ago. Not that it matters, since majority of the American's don't have access to CBC or Global....but still. It got me to thinking, would the USA news channels have covered the Prime Minister elections in Canada as exstesively (sp?) as Canada has covered the USA Presidential Elections. More USA arrogance.

I've been watching CNN. They right now are saying Bush has 254 electoral votes and Kerry has 242. CNN is the only cable network that I have been flipping between that is holding out on Ohio (as they shoud) because of the Provential ballots. I'm getting tired of hearing the news people discuss the issue, so I think that I will go to bed (I'm in WV, so it's late - or early, however you wish to look at it).

Amen Becky! I votd for Bush for the same reason. I am against abortion totally and I tend to vote for the predident with the most morals, which is usually republican.

I had a very dear friend that was raped in College. Due to her families religious beliefs she was not allowed to abort the child. She was a different race than the rapist. By her family she was forced to have the child. Abortion was illegal at the time no matter what. To this day many , many years later she still looks at every child of mixed race and wonders if that child is hers. She also wonders if this child is in jail for anything such as rape. I could never abort a child myself.... I have miscarried 5 times & had 1 stillborn. (I LOVE KIDS) BUT I saw the pain she went through and the turmoil emotionally she endured ; and still does. So the abortion issue was not a factor for me. I think everyone has to make that discission for themselves. Being this woman's Best Friend.... I was only able to see the pain second hand. ( THAT WAS ENOUGH FOR ME ) !! Sometimes we don't have to walk a mile in someone elses shoes....because we walked that mile with them.
But since THIS IS a Pet site..... My oldest kitty Jellybean who turned 15 on Halloween Hisses at the TV when Bush is on. Jellybean is a fantastic judge of character. I've learned not to second guess him . LOL !!!
I hope everyone has a Great 4 years no matter who gets in there.....and I am hoping for better job opportunities for everyone.

KatMom I am so sorry for your friend. I hope her upbringing brings her some peace. I too was raised in a Christian home and that's one of the reason's I feel as strongly as I do. I have a friend who had 3 abortions, the last one at 4 1/2 months and she has never been the same, espically after the last one. Abortion is one of those touchy issues. I do feel for your friend though.
That is funny about Jellybean (I love that name by the way). My cats show no interest to tv unless animal planet is on and even then only 1 of them will sit and watch only if the big cats are on.

I'm concerned about....but I think we should all have the right to choose whats best for us . Pick our own religion, our own way of thinking, our own way of dealing with alot of things. I don't think there are any Cut & Dry answers , there will always be exceptions....I know I wouldn't want to carry a child full term if I was raped. There are always 2 sides to every coin reguardless.
Except maybe Jellybean watching Bush on TV.... I turn the channel so Jellybean doesn't Hiss so much. He generally LOVES TV !! I was in Art School in Philly when I found him. I shared a house with others, We had a huge Goblet full of goodies, Including Jellybeans from the Dollar Store. This little refugee use to crawl in there and Sleep....He Loved curling up with the Jellybeans and Nap. Of course nobody wanted to eat Furry Jellybeans..... That's how 15 yrs. ago he got his name. He rarely Hisses at anything or anyone...He is a LOVE-BUG.... But the few he does Hiss at "I don't Trust ".
They generally are looking out for themselves only.
Hm well, I don't live in America or anything, but personally I go for Kerry. I find Bush a little environmentally-unfriendly. No offense. Really.

Well...Bush won. Osama is happy, Haliburton is Happy, the Canadian dollar will continue to rise....52% of Americans are happy. Our pets could probably care less... Good luck USA. Personally I think this guy is more trouble than he's worth...But, it was'nt my election.

I do not agree with partial birth abortion, nor do I think that abortion should be used as a form of birth control. With that being said, I was also adopted. My bmother was only 15 when I was born, and could have had an abortion. I have an older brother that was also adopted that was born before Roe V Wade, and more than likely would have been aborted (not that I know his bmom, it is just a gut feeling).
Katmom, tell your friend that she did what she did out of the kindness of her heart. It isn't the childs fault that their father is a cretin (did they ever catch the guy? I hope they strung him up by his nutsack). I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and that God wanted that child on the planet for something special.

" I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason "
I firmly believe this too draper....so with that thought in my mind I try to take things as they are. No matter what the out come if I voted, then I did what was in my "control" the rest is up to God. That is one of the many things I love about this forum, we can voice our opinions and still be friends. And we are not afraid to kid with each other at all..LOLOLOLOL just ask Squawksx3 and 'too crazy.....PRIME EXAMPLES.....hehehehehehehehe I love this place :p

I am anti abortion, but I did not say I disagreed with Senator Kerry because of all abortions. I said that I disagreed with him because of partial birth abortion. Partial birth abortion is when the head of the FULL TERM BABY is delivered, a sharp object is shoved into the skull and the brain is sucked out. This is the particular type of abortion that I was speaking of. It is murder, cut and dry; and right now it's legal. Like I told my Dad, President has his problems (don't we all), but at least he has morals. Senator Kerry thought that it was a good idea to campaign in three churches in one day. I have a problem with this. Sorry if I have angered anyone. :o
Jellybean sounds like a cute little thing!!!! :)

I do agree with you .....My baby brother works secret service. The things that go on behind closed doors !! Lets just say it gives you a whole NEW perspective. Did you see the movie about the 9/11 scandal up there in Canada ?
============
Draper....I think it's great you were adopted and have a family that Loves you. As for my friend she has many, many regrets.... I guess it's one of those things that if you don't go through it personally, we may never fully understand. I cannot say I would want to carry a child that came from a rape. 9 months of reliving that would rip me apart. On top of that she had a boy...She prays every day that this child never hurts anyone. Even though we live many miles apart....we keep in touch daily via email. She's been in and out of therapy for many years over this.
She tries to stay busy....and runs several pet rescue organizations. Has never married and has no intention of doing so....She keeps most people at arms length. I can honestly say it has totally changed her life.
Yes , they caught the guy....He spent 1 yr. in jail and is not allowed to come within 500 feet of her. BIG DEAL !!! She moved , Changed her name, and lives a quiet life. She is now worried this child may try to contact her.....She wishes him no harm. But wants to stay Unknown.
For years she looked over her shoulder wondering if her son will come after her next. ( What can I say she's been through alot )
She does fantastic work with the pet rescue organizations throughout the USA. She has helped fund numerous rescue efforts. She is a Silent partner in several Siamese rescue groups. You will not find her name anywhere on the sites. I hope one day she finds peace.......

Katmom: First...Sorry about your freind... It must be really hard for her to let her guard down & open up to people.
As to your President... Don't get me started. I'm still wondering if the 'Osama' tape that was realeased last week was his attempt at influencing the election... Or a true 'Wag the Dog' moment.....? I truly thought Bush would be defeated based on bad economic management (loosing jobs & gaining massive debt)... But this election didd'nt seem to have alot to do with Issues... It was more about who came across as the tougher guy. I truly think thye vote was decided on 'Who would I want watching my back in a bar fight?'..... Most Canadians seem unhappy about your results... I guess time will tell if our discomfort is warranted or not.....

Oh gosh - I know I will regret this -- but I have to reply to sommelier. I don't think "Who would I want watching my back in a bar fight?" quite expresses it. I think it is more like "WHO DO I WANT IN THERE IF & WHEN WE HAVE ANOTHER TERRORIST ATTACK" and 2nd I think Americans are starting to value morals once again.
I usually restrain from talking politics to anyone, be it friend, acquaintance, relative or internet contact. It is usually how people who have a lot in common and get along really well sharing their common likes end up no longer sharing and enjoying each other's company. Maybe we can chuck election day grievances on this very special site and go back to chatting about our special pets. Anyone care to second this motion????

But this is a Pet Site.... So lets just say Jellybean & I are both sticking our tongue out & hissing at the TV !!! :p :p

Allright, I'll grit my teeth & save my political comments for more apropriate spots on the web. My cat does'nt hiss @ bush, kerry or any politician. She's terrified of the vacume cleaner, though.
If Kerry has a pet, what do you think it would be? I picture a big, slobbering, freindly golden retreiver....

Well, me and the birds sat on the couch and watched the news til 3 in the morning. Ok, I admit the birds didn't stay up as long as I did. I turned 18 this year, so it was the first time I got to vote. To put it in indirect terms, it's a good day in the life of Jaylene, and I don't have to move to Australlia for 4 years, but I'll save the details for a different time and different place.
I kind of imagine both of them would have a dog. Some kind of retriever. Maybe a golden like Sommelier said. I don't know why, and have no idea if either of them have pets. Here's a question. What kind of animal do Bush and Kerry most look like?

11-04-2004, 02:50 AM
Hey Sommelier~ Can I join you in Canada?
And not all people that didn't vote for Bush don't value morals. I have morals and I would never have voted for Bush and believe me I feel very unsafe with him in charge of the country I live in. And that's sad. That should never happen. I also don't think someone should be able to make a life altering decision for someone else (i.e. abortion). Because if I was ever in a situation where I felt I needed an abortion that would be my decision not the decision of some crooked politcian. But that's my opion and since everyone else was voicing there's I voiced mine.

the other forum i'm on is storm track, a storm chaser site. You talk about getting ugly!!!!! 7 pages of non-stop name calling (some right nasty too!) by people who get along great as were all storm chasers. Oh there's been some damaged friendships for sure. How silly if you ask me
I look at it this way..... I voted for Kerry, stayed up til 4:30 am, watching said "ok looks like Bush" went to sleep, got up next morning, and started about my normal life, no big deal. Time to get over it and support "OUR" president............. until '08 ;)

I was made fun of on another board because I voted for Bush. I asked a friend of mine, who lives in Canada, if I could come to stay with her reguardless of who won the election, and she ended up revoking my refugee status because I voted for Bush. I like everyone here, but I am disturbed over some of these comments. I am proud of our Country and have no intentions of ever wanting to leave. You may not like the President, but at least we were able to vote. We are lucky to have a democracy. There are a lot of countries that do not. I consider myself very fortunate regardless of who the President is or what party is in office. If anyone wants to leave the USA, at least you have the freedom here to do so.
