:( Well our first little dog we adopted is our little Italian greyhound. Its a very long story, but we adopted him from a very abusive situation. He was very, very close to dieing when we took him. But his name is Buddy, and he is very well and a happy boy. He is the love of my life becides all the rest. He has a very special place in my heart. Next we also adopted a pitbull from a very bad living area. He was only 3 weeks old and almost killed by the others. He was only as big as my hand. His name is Goddi,my son named him. He was to be our sons and he is still very well loved by him ,but we take care of him. He has alot of problems and is need of the vets on a monthly basis. So needless to say I am an animal lover all the way!!!!!!!!:)

It's so happy to hear stories like that! :) Give your little "Iggy" a kiss from me! We had one for a few years, but sadly my parents decided to give him away in the end. Though we foudn him a terrific home, I still miss him alot! What kind of problems does your pit bull have?

I also have a pit. She is the most amazing dog I have ever had!! I cannot stand the way people make the breed out to be. They are just like people you shouldn't judge them all by the way some are!! I give you kudos for adopting one....so many people wouldn't have! Guess you can tell I love ours!lol.:)

As Far as Goddi goes our pit,he has very bad paws and always has to have meds for them,as well as his ear problems. He has a bad habit of licking them until they are all sore. Its a habit he picked up when we were away and we had a women take care of him. Needless, he once again was abused by her locking him in his crate all day and night. He was only fed when she remembered too. Seeing her parents had 2 dogs and she grew up with them ,we thought she was the best choice, also she lived in our 2nd floor appartment. It was a very bad choice. He was in his own feces and so on! My dogs were very bad off. Thanks for all the comments

I also agree that Pits get a bad rap. I dont have one, but know people who do and they are very loving pets.... its the people who use them as "muscle" dogs that are to blame. Its very sad.
Its so nice to see so many rescuing and giving these pups a second chance at life.... no matter the breed. Kudo's to all of you :)

B,
I couldn't agree with you more - any breed can be used by its owners to be an attack animal - we only have people to blame. Pitbulls do seem to take the brunt of it all.

But, do you all remember they also attacked the German Sherperd, the doberman Pincher, and the American Pit? People have nothing better to do? Some of these dogs have attacked children, but they never did tell that the child or Grownup also threw rocks and sticks and teased them, till they attacked. You have to understand that People are not to always blame. Our dogs may have puppys they are trying to protect. Or they are protecting themselves. Its a protection they have instinted. Just like us. If someone were to hurt us, we would kick or scratch and punch, and all that to get away, even BITE! The media has done this to the poor dogs.

Yes, some breeds of dogs do seem to get a bad rap! It's funny because whenever a doberman, pit bull, or rottweiler bites, it gets lots of attention. Yet when other breeds bite or hurt someone, it's ignored. I agree with you Gail, there always is a reason that an animal bites. Most people just don't take the time to realize that.

YES! This is very true. All dogs bite for a reason. Not just any reason. I do agree, some have bit just to bite probably out of fear.Maybe thats the way they were brought up. I do know that pits are fed gun powder to make them fight, and they become crazy. This is when the folks that own them, need to be put in jail. This is where my son found our dog. He was in a garage while the father was put to fight other pits. My son stole him. I know thats wrong, but like he said,he was being trained at that very young age to fight later. Being fed raw meat and so on. This is a sick world. But thank God my son found him crying. Kyle took a big chance, and hurried him home at only 3 weeks old.We bottled fed him, and thank god he was so young he didn't remember.I know that stealing was wrong and so does Kyle. But this time an animal was saved from harm and death. These dogs fight till death. Then the owners keep the "strong" ones. Sick. That is how these people make their money!
