My dog when I'm out walking with her occasionally eats other dog's poohs. It is extremly annoying and disgusting. It's not from lack of food (she often doesn't eat all her dinner). Does anyone know how I can stop this.

Sorry; I am not much help in the Poop eating department. :p Maybe a vitamin deficiency ?? Hopefully someone with more knowledge about dogs will help on this one ! I'm anxious to find out this info myself....I don't have dogs but you got my curiosity up that's for sure.

Hi and welcome to Petlovers! I have read that when dogs eat poopie it is due to lack of something in their diet. I think KatMom hit it right on the nose when she suggested a vitamin. You can get them at any petstore, Walmart and Tractor Supply store.
Good luck! I know it is nasty...

umm.... it probably isn't a lack of vitamins. your dog just likes to eat poop =p . if u had cats and dogs u'd know thelitterbox is the best snackbar (EWWW!!!) . its something dogs do, like roll in stinky things *shrug*
the best thing that worked for my guys was to tobasco sauce the poop. didn't touch it again. i don't know how u'd do it with the poop outside though... goodluck

Dogs, especially as pups will eat their own feces as a method of self protection against predators. If they can't find the poop, they can't find you. Your pup will outgrow it eventually. My guy did it too and he outgrew it in about 6 months. I know it's disgusting but it's a 10,000 year old instinct and a practical one too. I'd keep an eye out for worms as this activity may cause intestinal parasites to grow.

In our state we must have our dogs on a leash when we walk our dogs -- just keep out for the pooh and keep your dog away from it .......or when your dog starts to chow down just tug it away from the pooh.
I agree with Wolat - though -- it is a natural thing.
