My old Soldier

Here is my Great Dane, Zeus. He will be 11 years old on 9/29. He is still going strong, thank God.

This is my heart right here. The one that started it all. My Seeyoum. No matter how many Danes I have in my life, Zeus will always be my favorite. I truly believe fate brought us together.

LOL. He does look like he's saying "mom, get away from me with that camera!" And I can't believe he's 11! How long are the life expectancies for danes? 11 seems really good for such a big dog. You are a lucky momma and he is a lucky soldier to have found you!

Years ago you were lucky if your Dane lived to be 7 or 8. Now with the knowledge we have today, and the technology, Danes are living longer and longer.

He was the runt out of a litter of 9, so he's smaller than your average male Dane. He's about 34" and 110 lbs. Now my 16 month old male Horatio is already 160 lbs. and 36", and he still has a year and a half before he's done growing. So I'm sure Zeus' smaller stature helps.

Yeah, I sure am lucky, and I'd like to think he thinks so, too!
