Every morning Dexter drop his big one where I want em, so I conclude that he is already trained, he also drop one while he sleeps at night directly down to the bottom of the cage but I dont blame him to do this since its dark and he might fall down:D . But in the daytime he is consistent on one place, its sooo much easy to clean the cage everyday now...

Thats cute! I ask my parrot to go poop when I pick her up. Over the paper she goes. The big one in the morning! She is trained well. Also she will let me know she has to go while sitting on my shoulder. She wiggles her butt. I hold her over the paper, and she goes. Never on me. But on anyone else who holds her. They don't know the sign. LOl.And ploop!

Too funny! Perky poops all the time but that may be a lovebird thing? I'm hoping her new cage will be easier to clean!

That's great to hear Retret! My birds aren't trained to go in one spot, but I can always tell when they need to go. Whenever company is over and all of a sudden I pick up one of my birds and say "Just a second- he has to go the the bathroom right now!!" they are always amazed at how I know? I guess no one else has picked up the signs yet. Kirby is partially trained. If I put him in his cage or in another cage every 15 minutes and say the magic word "Poop" he knows to go. I immediately let him back out, so he's learned.

Our birds will do the same thing. Sometimes I wonder........is it the bird that is trained...........or is it me.....................maybe a little of both.

Hi All:

Just wanted to say I think I have the potty training thing going on here. For weeks now I have been trying to train Marcel (Pionus). Every time he is on one of us or the furniture, and he makes the motions, I say "No" and quickly bring him to the cage or playstand and then say "go".

Well I think it has worked! He hasn't pooped on us or the floor or furniture for quite some time now. He saves it for when he is on his playstand or cage.

I have to say thanks to Jason (J.Simko) for encouraging me and to the influence of Dexter and Retret.

So far, so good....it makes clean-up and embarassing situations much better now.
