So we took Mandarin to the vet's office for his rabies shot on Friday. He was screaming, the way I've only heard him screaming when I left him when I was visiting him at the shelter before we brought him home. Then I come up to the desk and there's euthanasia papers laying there for an orange tabby - that's what the papers said - and I became really upset. My husband told me it was okay. So I settled down, though it's hard to when Mandarin's screaming.
A chocolate lab took a big dump right there on the mat in front of the desk when Wally and I went to go sit down with Mandarin. We got his shot, and he took it like a pro - in the waiting room no less - and I paid and we were on our way.
One lady came over and introduced her two lhasa apsos to Mandarin, and he handled it like a pro, especially considering the fact I've never had Mandarin meet doggies. He didn't hiss or yell or anything. He just let them smell him.
Got in the car and smelled poop. Thought maybe I had gotten some of the poop on my shoe or Wally on his. The smell got stronger.
Mandarin had pooped in his carrier!!!! So all this screaming was probably trying to let us know that he had to go potty?! I feel so bad!! But how do you encourage a cat to go to the bathroom before you go on a car trip?
So I cleaned it out, dropped Wally off at his doctor's appointment, dropped Mandarin off at home - he didn't want me to leave, sweetheart - and finished Wally's appointment, dropped him off at home then went to work until 10.
Poor Princess Mandarin. He's never ever pooped in his carrier. What a tragic time for him. He was soooo embarrassed. I tried to soothe his wounded feelings and sang Katy Perry to him. But I guess he forgave us. Last night he was all about curling and loving up on mom in his very distracted way. He wanted mommy, so I hope he's still feeling okay. Usually he only wants Mommy when he doesn't feel good.
