I just got 2 new budgies and one has picked all the feathers out of his rear. Not tail, just vent and the central undertail coverts.
Is this just his (or her, still a juvenile) way of being clean? Or is it more likely akin to nervous plucking, like cocatoos sometimes do? I doubt it is this because it is not extensive.
