Is it possible for a kitten to have attention deficit disorder? I have a kitten named George, he is about 2 1/2 - 3 months old, he can not sit still. From the moment his eyes open, he does 90 miles an hour, until he literally falls over from exhaustion. I have had several kittens, but never one with this much energy. Never one quite like him. I was going to try to find him a home, but I think they would bring him back.

I'm not sure but I'd imagine that some kittens are just more energetic than others. My cat Bean was a nut when he was a kitten...constantly going, going, going and getting into to things. Running across the room, jumping onto the curtain and then dangling from it. If I had been able to find a home for him I think he would have been returned because he would have been too much to handle for some people.
Last year I took in a stray...not a kitten but a young adult who was also a nut. I was worried about rehoming him as well since I figured he would likely be returned because he was so energetic. I still have both of these cats and they are much more reserved now in adulthood.

Oh my gosh, enjoy it, I live the crazy ones, they have so much energy, and will make you laugh day after day, their is nothing wrong with him, so have fun and encourage his playfullness by playing with him. Have fun.

P.S. My Cozmo was the same way, and will still act like a crazy kitten and he's 6yrs.

George, is the only baby in the house right now. But I have raised litters of kittens at a time. It is not uncommon for me to have 10 cats in my house at a time. But George is very different from all of the rest. I know that they are supposed to be hyper and playful, but George goes to extremes.
Last weekend when I cleaned the kids bedroom, he ran non stop for 4 hours, you could hear him running from his room, thru the other rooms in the house, turn around and run back into his room run thru both litter boxes, slinging litter everywhere. And then go back and start all over again.
He is getting a little bit more loving, like when I am on the computer, he has quit running across the keyboard. Now he curls up under my chin and watches me play on the computer. And ocassionally types a few things to whom ever I am writing to at the time.

I agree with cat&dog mom~enjoy it! Before to long he'll be laying around all the time and you'll be wishing he was playing. I have 4 cats and they all play differently. The 3rd youngest I got at 2 days old. He is such a brat one minute and such the lover the next. I just go with the flow where he's concerned. For example he'll hop up on the fridge and knock everything down just because he feels like it. In the night he'll knock stuff off my dresser. He's 2 years old now but I'm sure soon he'll quit. And if not, I'll love him for the quirky stuff he does anyway. :)

I have one like that - my little Koko-nut. Now that she is about 16 months old, she is beginning to calm down very nicely. Wait it out, laugh with him, and love him in the meantime.

I had one much like him... It's normal...& when it's gone you'll miss it.Not unusual for an 'only child' to be a handfull. As others have said, enjoy it... He'll mellow out in another few months.... At least youre sure he's fit. :)

George is not the "only child" in the house, he is the only baby in the house right now. He has 3 older brothers and an older sister. And he drives them nuts. George loves to terrorize them. He chases them through the house, or when they are sleeping, he will jump on their heads and bite their ears. It is kind of funny and he keeps the older ones on their toes.
I just wish he would mellow just a little bit

God grant me patience & I want it now!!!! The older cats will school him if he gets too iritating.... sounds like George will be a good hunter.... In the mean time, I reccomend stocking in some good scotch (for yourself) to weather the storm.

I have met George, and let me tell you, he is something else. I believe that he could have some kind of attention disorder. He couldn't stalk and catch a mouse if his life depended on it. He would find 10 other things that he had to stop and check out, and play with before he got to the mouse.
It has been 3 months since lildemon posted this. And since then, he has been neutered. That was done about 2 weeks ago.
I was thinking about getting him for my wife for christmas, but I don't know if we can handle him.
Does anyone know if they have Kitten Prozac????
