Sometimes Hayley will preen with a pellet in her mouth. It looks like she puts them under her feathers. Today I saw her fluff up and shake like birds do, and I saw something fly off of her. I went and picked it up and it was a pellet. Do you know any reason she might do that? This isn't the only weird thing I caught her doing either.

That's interesting how Hayley likes to hide pellets in her feathers. I would like to know why she is doing that.

Casegura, next time Bijou gets into her "breeding mode" and starts to put newspaper strips under her tail feathers, I'll take a picture and post it. It is the cutest and funniest thing I've ever seen! :D

I have no idea. Sophie doesn't do anything like that nd neither does Pumpkin. However macaws will lay their toys on their backs for no reason. So it is just a bird quirk. I'd love to see a pic of the lovebird thing.

Does your bird put food under it's tongue and eat it later? I caught Hayley doing this too. I watched her climb to the top of her cage, get a drink of water, then out of nowhere she pulls this sunflower seed out from under her tongue then eat it.

jake's food dish is on the bottom of his tree. he will go down to get a seed, climb up his curly rop to get to the tree, find a confortable spot, then eat the seed. when he's done, he'll go back down to get another....he does this most of the day!

LOL!!! That is funny. Sophie will sorta do the same thing with her sunflower seeds(or Pumpkin seeds her favorite!!!) But she searches for them and then eats it where she was.

None of my birds have ever been caught preening with a pellet in their mouths! Maybe it just feels good to Hayley. One odd thing that Mortie does is that he'll get two or three pellets in his mouth from the bowl on the very right side of his cage, then he'll walk/climb to the complete opposite side to eat them! He goes back and forth..back and forth...until he's all done with his food.

This is a new one for me too. My lovebird sticks paper that she shreds for her nest under her feathers, but I never saw her do that with food. It must be hysterical. :)

My blue and gold sometimes walks around with three peices of food. Two in the beak and one in a foot.

LOL I guess my birds are boring. They eat at their dish and drink at their dish and soforth. One thing Sunni does is never let me see her drink water. She also never lets me see her take a bath in her water dish. I just walk in and she will look at me and wait for me to laugh because she is all wet.

They are not boring just serious. Our green cheek never plays.
