I have noticed that you have been wanting to get up in the middle of the night to get some water. I would ignore you and wait for you to settle down . . . EXCEPT . . . for a couple of those nights when you were in doggie recovery from broken leg mode and it turned out you had to go to the bathroom urgently and proceeded to go all over yourself and the crate.

I don't want you to not be able to go outside for the bathroom. So I decided to give you a little bit of water set in your crate. So if you are really thirsty, you can get a drink. But I don't leave enough for you to drink a lot or to spill it everywhere.

It appeared to be working marvelously. Two nights in a row you did not wake me at 2:30. So please Dear Enchante explain why last night you woke me up at 2:30 to go outside and go potty. I had taken you out before we went to bed. Prior to that, you had been mellow and sleeping for about an hour . . . in other words you were not drinking water. The water I had in your pen was a small amount.

What was the difference between the previous two nights and last night? Did you somehow just know that I had to get up and go to work today and that the other two nights I did not?

Dear Enchante, please explain as I cannot read your puppy mind.
