OH! Chocolate contains Caffeine and may affect their heart rate and nervous system. You wouldn't want your dog to experience some other problems most especially diabetes. There are many other treats that you can use as reward.

I've heard that chocolate does something to the red blood cells (I think it was the red?) that thins them out making them almost enemic. If thats not true, its still bad, in small quantities it wont kill your dog but it could put them one step closer to death so its really not worth the risk despite how much they may like it.

I'm under the impression that chocolate is poionous to dogs, potentially fatal even, even in small doses, so I would definately NOT give it to any dog in any amount under any circumstances! Pip

Nope. Not true. You're thinking of Onions/Garlic, and anything in the Onion family.

Chocolate contains theobromine. It basically causes the heart to work faster than it needs to (think caffeine) and can cause a heart attack.

Every dog is different, I used to feed Chica M&Ms and Hershey Kisses all the time before I knew better. She's still around. However, we had husky come in a few years back...ate one Hershey Kiss and was dead within 6 hours.

Avoid chocolate at all costs because it affects dogs so differently, there is no telling what it will do to your's.

I would not advise that.
My dog, Pepe, got into a bag of chocolate before, and was perfectly fine.
But I guess I was lucky, I have heard many stories of dogs who have gotten very sick and even died from eating chocolate.
Luckily we know to hide it from him now, because he was loving it! ;)
