Hello Im new and have 4 dogs (beagle, and 2 min pins) and 2 cats. I love my beagle more than life itself and she's getting up in age (11 yrs old) and hasn't had a very healthy life (I got her from a puppy mill at 3 weeks old when they said she was 8 weeks, I was 12yrs old at the time). I read in a dog magazine a while ago about making a craft using your pets hair and you can make a stuffed animal thing out of it. I know this probably sounds crazy but I love her smell and want to make this craft. Does anyone know what Im talking about and where I can find any info on it? I dont think she has much more time left and I really want to do this. Thanks!!

You're talking about taking her shedded fur and stuffing a toy, not taxidermy right?

Of course!! I would never get her taxidermied!! I just want to use her hair to make a sort or stuffed toy animal thing but I can't seem to find any info on it but it was in a dog magazine at petsmart like 6 months to a year ago

Ok so I learned that it's called needle felting. It's practically a naked stuffed animal and they can use your pets hair and make it look like your pet with its hair and everything! In case anyone was interested

Years back we went to a fair here in WI and a lady was spinning dog hair.
She made scarfs, mittens etc from your pet hair. I love my critters but don't know if I would want to wear them although husky hair would have made a great scarf.
I like the memories they hold in my heart instead.

Something made from my chinchillas would have been soft and warm, and SOGGY because I'd probably ball my eyes out every time I touched it.
I'm a sap when it comes to my dead animals

I think its a nice gesture, whether or not it is for everyone is debatable, but I think if thats the route you'd like to take, then fine. It could be much, much worst.
Are you looking to make this yourself, or have someone make it for you?
