Does anyone know how I can treat worms in my new kitten without going to the vet? I am on a fixed income and I cannot afford to pay a vet bill right now. :(

Most vets I know will sell the worm medicine over the counter to you with out an office visit. They do here where I live. It is usually pretty cheap too. That is for common worms that cats and dogs get. Heartworms are a different story because they are so dangerous for your pet you need a vets help. If nothing else I think Wal Mart sells meds for worms too. Good luck to you

Hey, I have something that might help you......
Almost every cat gets worms........
there are two kinds..... Round and tapeworms....
You can buy suitable preperations to worm you cat... Getting rid of if... Getting it from the vet...
Roundworms feed on partly digested food in the intestine....
The cat is not recieving all the nutrients for its diet......
Here are signs of the round worm:dull, starey coat, pot bellied appearance, diarrhoea, constipation, and your cat can get seriosly ill... If it is roundworm in intestine you see it in the feaces........ Tapeworms are what looks like little grain bit near there anus area.......... It's important that you deflea your cat b cuz the flea eats the egg and the cat eats the flea and the flea and worm goes to the intestine and starts a new cycle.... You can buy a pill but you should stick it in it's food so it won't notice you gave him/her a pill....... If you buy it from a store you can read administrating your cat to see how many times to give them a pill....... It is a worming med. It dewormitizes your cat(gets rid of the worms).....

Your cat needs to go to the vet. Save your money (maybe cancel some of the cable channels for a few months. :) ) and go to the vet...
What do the worms look like? If you buy OTC wormers, but for the wrong worms you'll end up wasting money.
Sometimes a donation to a local humane society could be appreciated enough to grant dewormer for someone in need.
