We lost our precious little Tumper rabbit this morning. She got sick so quick. Yesterday morning she seemed fine. She licked my fingers just like she always did. Later in the day, she was standing up in her hay basket. Then last night, I went to get her out of the cage to hold her. She had the most aweful smelling diarrhea I have ever smelled (and I'm a nurse). Also noticed that her hair was coming out in clumps. Not all the way to the skin, but large amounts. I washed her off. Normally when I wash her she has a fit. This time she let me wash her without any difficulty. I placed her back in a clean cage. I gave her some Pedialyte by syringe. She was not dehydrated, (did the tenting test). I checked on her a couple of times during the night. She was in the same place and her breathing was shallow. This morning my husband got up early to go and get them some hay, as they had been out a few days. She was alive when he left. But by the time he got back, she was gone.

She loved to run around the house. She would kick up her feet, jump as high as the table and chairs. She would give us kisses, from forehead to chin. But then she wanted us to groom her too. So I had to rub my face all over hers. Rabbit hair and all! We put her in the little graveyard that we have started. Had a little funeral. My daughter is 10 years old and she did not take it too good.

I know that Thumper is at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for us. She is happy, kicking up her feet and hopping around. No more cages for her.

Rest well Little Thumper! You will be greatly missed. We loved you very much. You made our lives the better, the time that you were here.

I'm so sorry for your loss, sometimes they are so good at hiding thier illnesses that there is no way to know something is wrong until it is too late.

Sending love from the fur kids.
