Hello everyone haven't been on in awhile. Got some kind of virus! Yuck.... Any how this will be my first year with Bosco and Tweety what can I expect? Will the birds be bothered at all with the flash and boom?

We missed hearing from you! Last 4th of July was four of my birds's first, and I just closed my blinds, turned the lights on, gave them some yummy treats, and played music for them- slightly louder than usual. They all did fine and didn't seem bothered by the noises. With Bosco and Tweety you might want to sit in the room talking and playing with them and telling them not to be scared once the fireworks start, then see how it goes from there.

I agree with Jenny 100% - the birds will watch you to see if the noises or lights bother you. Just remain calm and reassure them and they should be ok.

Let us know how they react. It will be interesting to know.

Sophie is always asleep and it doesn't bother her. The windows are always closed with the air on. Pumpkin seems to enjoy the booms so she doesn't worry me. However she isn't able to see the flashes from her cage and if she can she has a spot to escape from them

Luckily, no one in our neighborhood sets off fireworks. There is a huge fireworks display down by the bay/dock just approx. 1/2 mile from our home. We can see it from where we live but the sounds are dull and won't affect my birds. Snickers would be the one who would get upset...everything and anything scares her.

Firework in my town used to be a big thing, but now the show only lasts 5 minutes and is very boring. I think that our town government is just trying to pocket more money than ever before and they view it as one less minute of fireworks equals another couple of thousand dollars to place in their already fat wallets.

well, my nieghbors don't set of fireworks, fire crackers, and the like because our town has made a law to prevent the use of them in our town. sam and berry always stay home and sleep, but i always take jake out to the park to see the fireworks display. the first year, he was really scared (the are always a bunch of dogs) and spent the entire evening hidden in my shirt perched on the inside of my bra (people stared cause it looked like i had 3 boobs lol). but the following year, he trust me more and knew that if i thought it was saf for him to be out, that he probally was. he had a blast. i would take him again tomarrow, but i'm not going to be able to bring him home afterwards cause i'm going strait to a friends house.

Beautiful Fireworks!!! Bosco was asleep in his happy hut didn't bother him at all. Tweetie totally different story. He was going crazy in his cage even with all the blinds closed. So I took him out and he also stayed perched on my bra the entire time. He was really shook up ...shaking. He's okay today. Thanks everyone.

My birds were all fine and I doubt they even noticed the fireworks! I live in the country and not many of our neighbors did fireworks this year. The ones who did though all came over to one neighbor's house for food and swimming, and then all of us drove to ANOTHER neighbor's house about a mile away to shoot them off because the grass had been mowed there! However, I still shut my blinds, gave my fids treats, and turned on music to be on the safe side. I hope you all had a great "4th" and that your birds did too! Sounds like they all did. :)
