Yesterday morning I woke up to the sound of my ferret screetching. He was laying on the bottom of his cage "seizing" I thought. He had been fine and happy at 6am when I came home, and I called the vet immediately. She was out of the building until 1pm and was unreachable on her cell.

I determined that Badger some how fell from the top of his cage (as he often would jump) landed on his tube and broke his back. I got to watch him suffer for 2 hours and then to finally have him die in my arms an hour before the vet was available.

he was only three, and I burried him with his favorite strawberry toy that he dragged everywhere with him.

I think it'll be a while before I empty his dish and water or clean his cage.

There's just no words. I'm so sorry it happened that way, at least he looked like he had a happy life until then.:(

thanks you guys

I just wish it could have been instant, it seems like everytime one of my small animals goes I have to watch them suffer until they pass with my chinchilla she slowly faded for 24hrs so badly she slept with me all night on the bed without moving but hell, at least she wasn't convulsing and puking on herself.

All I can see is him looking up at me and taking his giant last breath and his little feet twitching. I don't know how he fell either, all of his walkways were still up ( he liked to knock them down and climb the cage walls)

but Nana is right, I did save him from the reched living conditions he was in when I took him in and he was at least able to be happy and have that freaking strawberry! the thing was so beaten and he dragged it everywhere, set it in his food dish when he ate :o

sigh:(

I'm so sorry for your loss.

You gave him a good life while he was here, and I'm sure he is thankful for that.

May Professor S Badger rest in peace.

What a horrible way to go, poor little Badger. I'm so, so sorry. That's every pet owner's worst nightmare, and I'm so sorry for you. And so sorry for Badger.

RIP, little guy.
