Hi Everyone,

I'm new here after I've been checkin' out the site.... pretty cool. :) Anyways, alittle about me. I love parrots...African grey's especially, and I want to find out as MUCH as I can in order to be able to breed them some time. I want it to be just right, so with some advice here and there, I would love it to work out :)... also, if anyone knows of websites that contain classified ads or if anyone has friends that are selling babies or adults, PLEASE let me know!! Thanks, hope to talk again soon!

Hi emroul. I have 2 cockatiels and a Timneh African Grey. I also hope to breed greys someday. I'm breeding cockatiels right now and they will be hatching in a few days. Do you have any birds of your own yet? I'd love to talk to you about greys.

Hey Shockadine,

I have a cockatiel right now. I adopted him and they don't know anything about him as far as age. Do you know how to tell? Also, I don't have any Grey's, but would LOVE to have a breeing pair or even just one to maybe get used to their nature. Do you know alot about Grey's? Maybe you could filll me in if you don't mind.

Hi and welcome, Emroul! I have six birds, three budgies, a peach-faced lovebird, a green-cheek conure, and a sharp-tailed conure. Have you heard of Pamela Clark and Jean Pattison? Both are experts on breeding greys and know tons about them, so you might want to do a search on Google or something and see what you can find. I found some really neat articles by them doing that! There's also a fabulous magazine devoted to african greys called the Grey Play Round Table that is very informative and interesting. A good african grey book is "African Greys" by Maggie Wright. Breeding parrots is a big job and also can get expensive pretty quickly, but good luck to you someday! To everyone else- I found some pics of a very red cag, www.wingscc.com/aps/g-red.htm Pretty neat!

Wow- I just looked at the Red Pied greys, and that really makes me mad. I hate it when breeders aren't satisfied with the natural, wild coloration of animals and then try to change it! I agree with Courtney, I love the color as they naturally are and wish people woudnt' interfere with it. If African Greys ever go extinct in their native country as they are doing now, then the Red Pied's would have no chance of being able to contribute being reintroduced because if ever they got in the wild they'd be immediately singled out and killed, and possibly not even allowed in the flock of other normal greys.
