I have two new cats (last old cat died). Both came from shelters. The older one came down with an URI and promptly gave it to the younger one. The older one had to be hospitalized for several days and was treated with Genticin and Batril. The younger one we treated at home with the same meds. They have been separated the whole time. They will remain inside cats.

It has been about three weeks now and they appear to be OK, but still have an occaisional sneeze. I would like to put them together again, but am afraid of the sneezes. I do not want to go through this again.

I've never had cats sneeze before except if they get sick. Do cats sneeze without being sick?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ed

I'm sorry noone has replied to your ? it's probably because noone has had this type of problem, I can't help you either, but I just thought i'd reply so you didn't have any ill thoughts about us.

As far as the sneezing goes, I guess some cats get allergies also, but if it's excessive I would take him to the vet as it could be a sign of something more serious, or I saw in another post from you about the scented oils, maybe your cat has a sensative nose for strong smells like that, I know I sneeze when there is perfume sprayed in the air.
Good luck, and sorry it took so long to reply.

My cat does this sometimes. Sinse you already have had problems I would really watch it. Good luck to you and welcome to Petlovers

Thank you for the replies and the welcome to this forum.

I hope you are right about cats sneezing occaisionally without being sick. I just poured big bucks into getting these two friends well again. Somehow I think they know it too as they sure do love us! :)
