I know everywhere it says feed your fish however much they can eat in 5 minutes. What does that mean, really?? Put a flake, wait for him to eat it, then put another and so on? Or put a bunch in, and if he finishes it all before 5 minutes put more? If he doesn't finish, stop?

put a flake or pellet whatever your feeding in, if the fish eats it right up, put in another.. after 5 minutes he probably wont eat any more, and the food will rot.. so once you know how much the fish will eat.. thats how much you feed a day.. (my betta will eat 5-6 pellets a day and my mollies eat about ten flakes at a time)

I have 50 Tanks of Tropical fish and feed about a quarter of a teaspoon to about 40 fish in the tank once a day.
This is eaten up and any that is left over is syphoned out along with any detritus every 3 days when i do a water change.

Water changes are a nessecity in the tank because, in nature these fish are in flowing water which cleans away anything laying on the river or lake bed.

Good luck.
