Hello Im writing because my puppy Jager is having trouble walking. When he gets up to walk he starts walking in circles like he is confussed and he is also walking into things like the wall or tables. His back legs keep giving out abd he just falls over. I took him for a walk and everytime he tried to go down the sidewalk he would just fall. He is eatting and drinking fine. He was fine at 6 am when i was getting ready for work he jumped on my bed and was happy and i came home at 2:30 to him like this. Can anyone help me he is only 7 months old.:(

You need to see a vet. Poison is my first thought if this came on quickly.

You need to take Jager to see a Vet. He could have had an accident while you were at work at damaged his spine, or banged his head. Does this sound like something he could have done, does he jump or run around a lot?

My husband was with jager all day he said he didnt fall he was just laying around pretty much of the day. For being 7 moths old he is a very mellow puppy.

Whatever the reason, he will need to see a Vet. Generally speaking, things are easier and cheaper to sort out the sooner you catch them. Whatever has done this to your poor puppy could get worse, and he'll be suffering. Please take him to your Vet as soon as you can :)

I took Jager to the vet and they have no clue what is wrong with him. His heart beat is irregular and whatever happen affected his whole left side. He lost sight in his left eye and his hearing in his left ear and both front and back paw he lost most feeling in them. The vet put him on some meds and he seems to be getting back to himself playing and barking jumping on my bed. He still loses his balance here and there but he is adjusting pretty good. He goes for blood work tomorrow at 3pm to see how things are going.

Thanks for the update. It's too bad they haven't figured it out yet, but good news he's slowly getting better.

I'll keep your little pup in my prayers.

I wonder if he had a blood clot or maybe even a stroke?

Definitely keep us updated!

I havent heard anything about jagers blood work yet so i guess ill get the results on monday. The vet was very pleased with jagers progress in 4 days with the meds. I asked the vet about jager having a stroke she didnt think so because he is only 7 months old. The vet suggested i take him to a neurolgist to have a MRI but she said that would cost me a couple thousand dollars.

Was an inner ear infection ever considered?

It's called Vestibular disease or syndrome. While I think it mainly affects older dogs, it's something to look into anyway.

here is a link

by the way, what medicine did your vet put Jager on?

.

Vet said his ears were fine. Right now he is on Doxycycline incase he had some kind of infection. And his is also on Prednisone with is a steroid.

Meningitis might be another possibility. that will show up in the blood tests, and is responsive to steroids..

glad he is doing better.

Any update Chrisantonya? How's the pup doing?

Well we got his blood work results back and the vet said a dog white blood count should be at 14,000 and jagers white blood count is 23,000. so the is a infection somewhere. The vet put him on antirobe and panacur powder for deworming. He goes back on the 6th for a recheck. Jager is doing so much better i'd say about 75%. He is running and playing with his toys. im so happy its like having a new baby im calling everyone. The vet is not sure if he will ever get his sight back in his left eye or all the feeling back on his left side but he is adjusting very well and is a happy puppy again.

I agree with everyone else jager needs to see a vet. is he having problems with his sight or maybe a back injury is causing this? all the best to jager and yourself!

Jager has been to the vet a couple of times its not a back injury it was a infection. He is on a couple different meds right now. He goes back for a check up on Monday.

Jager went to the vet today and he is fine. His heart is normal and he has feeling in both left paws again. He just wont get his sight back in his left eye.
