I was laid off in October and I am 50 years old to boot. I've been trying to think of what it is I am supposed to do now. One of my passions is animals and another is painting. I have never had a career really....dealing with either, although I have painted and received payment but not enough that I could live on. Of course am married, so I am not really in trouble that way but would still love to do something and feel useful in these areas. I have coupled with a dog rescue group here and am painting pet portraits and then donating 25% of the proceeds to the rescue's medical bills. I thought this would be a good way to do something about both of my passions. Anyway, I love most any kind of animal. We have dogs, cats, a bird, a sugarglider ( just aquired), horses....and I think that is it for now. We have had in the past chickens, rabbits, a goat, snakes, rats, hamsters. I'm sure you all have similar lists... : )
Nice to meet ya!

That's a fine mess of critters. I've been thinking about getting a pygmie goat, but I wonder how my cat would like it.
What is a sugarglider?

actually a marsupial because it has a little pouch, but it looks more like a really small squirrel. It is nocturnal so her eyes are sort of bugged out. They are really cute! I guess it looks more like a chipmunk because they have a stripe down their back. The have webbed feet and can glide from branch to branch. She really zips around the cage. I'm afraid she is going to get out. Feeding her is quite a feat. My husband has taken that on since he is the one that brought her home and really wanted her. She has to have a well-balanced diet. Protein, veggies and fruits.
I will put pics on here of our animals and of a couple of paintings as soon as I figure out how. Thanks!

If you go to the beginning of the Portrait forum you'll find directions to help with posting pictures.

I hope sbc1203 is better adapted for the computer than I am. I tried to download a pic of Bubba, but you must understand...I can be quite ignorant. I'm still trying to get the "white out" off my computer screen from previous mistakes. I'll get my wife to help me.:banghead:
I'd love to see a picture of the Sugarglider. I'm doing a search tonight to see one.

Oh wow, SBC, I got to have me one of those (saw a picture). That's a cute little goomer. His tail is long for aerial balance, I guess. He does look like a chipmunk, except for the tail. Does he bite?
Since he's a marsupial, I guess he doesn't have the two large incisors that grow continually. Looks like he'd like crackers.
Oh, BTW...welcome!! (Dlaura said I could say that even though I'm a newbie...she's nice!)
