I have two male parakeets. I have had them for 14 months and I think they were fairly young when I got them. One of them has recently (as of this morning) started acting funny. His wings are constantly trembling. They are also not in the normal position; they are slightly forward and down partially out.

As of about 6:00am I refilled their food and water containers and I didn't notice the trembling then, but I really paying attention. I gave my two birds a drop of vitimin in there water. I had done this before, but I hadn't done it for a long time. My mom noticed later in the morning that he was shaking. My birds would of had plenty of time to drinmk the water. Neither bird did this before when I used to put a drop of vitamin in their water everyday a long time ago. Could this sudden change of water done this?

This is not normal behavior. What is wrong with my bird? Is this normal? Is he ill? Please help.

Now, my other bird's wing is trembling, but it doesn't seem as bad as the other one's. Hopefully, they'll both get better with time.

I'd take your birds to the nearest avian vet.

Is it hot where they are? It sounds like they might be to hot. I'd get them to the vet ASAP.

You know what this sounds like to me,that maybe they are in heat? Birds do put their wings forward and puff up. The male is maybe mating the female? Vitimins are the best you can do for now if you cannot bring them to the vet. Pay more attention to them, I bet all it is, is a mating thing. I hope. Let us know please. Also do you have air condition on? That will make them cold if near. Please let us know? concerned mother. Gail
