I have had my Red eared slider for 2 weeks now. He formerly was in a water only environment for a year and never knew dry land! Well when I got him I bought him a UV light and a basking rock. He likes it alot and is up there most of the day.

Trouble is, he seems to be sleeping too much. He actually hangs his head out resting the whole thing on the rock and sleeps. For me to wake him up I have to speak loud to get his attention. I get the feeling he is too tired and wonder if something is wrong.

He does eat every day a few times consisting of turtle food and guppies when he wants to hunt. I have tried carrots and green veges and he is not interested at all. He used to only get turtle food.

So can anyone tell me if this is okay?

Thanks

my red eared sleeps all the time day night it does not matter. also on cool dry land and hot dry land and in the water so i would not think anything of it. as far as greens go it is expensive but i buy him aquatic plants he like them but they range from $1.99 to like $3.99.
