As long as they are introduced carefully and have plenty of room they will be fine. I have 5 different breeds right now, and my only problem is with my bantys. Lost one yesterday when I tried to let them free roam with the bigger birds. :(

If they are going to be kept caged, they need approximately 3 or more square foot per bird. Your best bet is a small fenced area so that they can get bugs and grass included in their diet. If they are adult birds keep a fence wall between them for a few days, then they should be okay to be together. If they are pullets or younger and near the same age/size they shouldn't have any problems at all.

I wonder if chicken farm owners treat their chickens more like heards, nothing like pets at all or if they might choose one or two that turns out to be that pet that never will make it to the slaughter house?

Chicken farms don't make pets of their birds. They are strictly for income. You might find a smaller farmer that keeps a small flock for his own use, where the kids could get attached to them, but the larger operations for the most part don't even think of their chickens as living creatures, they are simply livestock.
