I found a red spot on my dog's belly/genital area. It's pinkish-red, not raised, round, no crust, and does not seem to bother him. It's the only one he has. I took a pic of it, so if anyone can recognize this - can you help me? Thank you!!

It certainly looks like some type of insect bite; how long has the spot been on him? If that is the only one that he has (Toto?), I would leave him be for now. If more start to show up, or if the area becomes swollen or oozing anything, try to schedule an appointment with your vet.

Yes, it's the only one he has - just makes me nervous about ringworm or lyme disease. I just saw it on him tonight - so it's pretty recent...I give him belly rubs each morning, and I do not remember seeing it this morning on him.
Thank you!

A ringworm would generally be a hollow "O" if you know what I mean. A red circle that's normal coloured on the inside. Also, since it's a fungus the ring of red skin is usually flaky and can sometimes ooze a little bit.

At least, that's what happened to us! I had one on the back of my head (and we had freaked because my boyfriend had just gotten over shingles) and our buddy was giving me a hard time cuz I was "soo gross" and when I showed him, it turned out that he had one on his foot!

Anyways, doesn't look like a ringworm to me, but I may be wrong. And the only thing I know about Lyme disease is that it's caused by deer ticks (out here at least) and I know a man with a fake leg cuz he had Lyme disease.

I think it looks like a bug bite as well, but I'm no vet tech like Tiffers!

That looks like a mosquito bite, or other similar insect. I have to deal with this daily in my shop. The best thing to do is to keep a watch on it and if it dosent heal in a few days, go to the vet to do a test. In the meantime you could use a soothing cream or spray to relieve the itch and redness. I have some in my shop (first link in my signature, called hot spot cream but is also good for bites) but you can also find it at most local pet stores. Hope your doggy gets better. :O)

Ringworm in animals (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_EyjwrSKOZXM/R1l3Duu3tAI/AAAAAAAAABU/PfU4iT2WxLk/s320/dogpic.gif) doesn't look like ringworm in humans (http://www.allstop.com/images/examples/ringworm3.jpg). :)

Hopefully it's not too serious... I don't know much about bites though. I just wanted to wish you good luck! And the ring worm looks so icky! I've never seen ring worm before now.
