Hi! My cat hurt his leg about 5 days ago, probably from jumping off a bed, although nobody saw it happen.
Initially, he came out of the room, meowing and not putting any weight on his hind right leg. The next morning, he seemed fine with just a slight limp.
Since, then, maybe three or four times, the same thing will happen. He will suddenly meow and run off, not putting any weight on that leg. I have examined his claw and paw and can't see anything.
We may have to take him to the vet but I wanted to get an idea if this may heal on it's own and what it might be.
He is eating normally, and between "occurences" he plays, jumps and runs normally.
Thank you!!

Not really sure what it could be... if you've already checked his paws and everything then perhaps it could be a muscle or fracture? Again, not very sure so taking him the vets is really important. Especially since you've waited a bit and it still happens every now and again. Hopefully it's not a hip problem.

what you are describing sounds like a simple sprain, requires observation for a few days,..of course i donot know the age/history of the animal or the environment in which he/she resides,.consult a knowledgeable dvm if need be,..sincerely james waller

I definitely want to recommend you take your kitty to the vet. Kitties frequently get cruciate ligament tears, and while it may not be a complete tear it still needs care. If the ligament becomes torn all the way, the repair surgery is very expensive.
Cats are experts at hiding pain. Therefore, I like to say that if the kitty is actively limping and showing pain, then it's got to be hurting pretty bad. The least that you could is take the kitty to get some pain medication.
