Soon to be vacant 20 gallon tank.. ideas please??

well my two goldfish that my cousin won at the fair last summer have offically out grown their 20 gallon tank i bought them... i have found a new home for them in a luxurious pond, with plenty room for them to swim and grow, so they will be headed out once the weather gets nice enough and they wont freeze outside!! so i can have some thing NEW and exciting in my tank!! but, of course, i have "rules" as to whats allowed in my house, well my parent's house i should say.. no lizzards, snakes, or spiders... soo that leaves me with either frogs, toads, hermit crabs, fish, shrimp, fiddler crabs.. ect... i have done some research on hermits and man!! they need a lot more work than we provide for them at the pet store (of course) and i think i could handle that.. so im thinking maybe some hermits! but of course i need feedback from my PL friends.. so guys.. any suggestions??

I don't recommend hermit crabs. They are a huge hassle. Very sensitive about their conditions, need special care during molting and can be cannibalistic.

A relatively low maintenance pet that would work well in a tank that size are Oriental firebelly toads. They're small, fairly low maintenance, are pretty hardy and can live a long time. I have five adults (plus six babies I'm raising but won't be keeping) and have the oldest one for about 7 years now. A 20 gallon tank could accomodate up to four adults.
