Rio's eye had a bunch of goop in the corner today. it was kinda cloudy looking. it's her right eye, and she has a little scratch near the corner which has scabbed up and is going away.

i'm taking off for a few days to go to a funeral, anything i should tell my boyfriend to watch for, in case of infection and whatnot?

her eye wasn't squinty or swollen, and i wiped the gunk away with a piece of toilet paper.

a cause for concern? or could she just have had alotta sleep in her eye?

If you have any straight saline solution (like you use for contacts) you should flush the eye and under a good light see if there are any scratches or abrasions. If there are any then he needs to watch them really closely. He can give one drop per day of polysporin eye drops (this has been approved by Izzie's ophthalmologist in case anyone wants to jump down my throat) in case of infection.

Were you describing her eye as cloudy looking? If that's the case, have the vet take a look. The cornea could be scratched or eyelids infected, etc. I always like to err on the side of caution with those eyes...they can get infected so easily.

Although I do as MandyPug does and use a simple saline solution for flushing, I, again, err on the side of caution with regard to putting any other med. in an eye without having a vet take a look.
