David wanted a big dog to be a guard dog, so I went on craigslist and found this boy, he's a rescue, is missing the toenail off one back toe, just the sweetest personality. And BIG! He's about 12 weeks, and already outweighs Cookie.

He's very cute. I was just wondering if you're not worried about having the same problems you had with Cheyenne? Is he to be an outdoor dog? What if he doesn't 'watch' well? It's so hard with pups to know whether they'll be any good guarding the house.

The folks we got him from called him "Moses", but it just doesn't fit. And I can't imagine scolding Moses! LOL So we picked Jake, just cause of the song "Feed Jake".
Anyway, he's to be a mainly outdoor dog, but since he's already shown that he'll sleep through the night with no accidents I'm going to try and let him come in every night.
We don't particularly want him aggressive, just of a size that should be a deterrent. Cash is noisy when there's something or someone in the yard, so if he learns that from Cash, along with being big he should be enough protection for the property.

My mothers dog's name was "Jake"...when she passed away with no
prior warnings...just a massive heart attack. Anyway....Jake kind of
went into a crazy frenzie...I said he was mourning because she was his
soul care taker. He would accept no food, water or any kind on interaction
from anybody.......he had to be euthanized. Still makes me cry to this day.
BUT Jake is a great name and I hope you have the best of luck........
he sure is good looking!

When my mother passed away we had a heck of a time finding someone who could take both her dogs. It was a mother and son that had never been separated. Finally my sister's best friend took them to his mom, she has something like 50 acres, so they are having a blast now running around that much land. But they were devastated when they could no longer be allowed in her bedroom. There was just too much medical equipment that they got in the way of.

I love his face! How did you know I was going to ask for a pic next to one of the Shih Tzu? He isn't as big as I thought he'd be by now!

^^^he isn't but look at those paws...yikes
my aunt was given a 5 week old rottie/gsd mix (don't even get me started on how there are already 3 things wrong with this sentence). THe cutie at that age had giant paws....i cant even imagine how big she'll get. Needless to say my aunt is not 100% health wise and certainly can't keep up with a dog that will get that big and it's for the better she doesn't know much about dogs and those are 2 very strong personalities...anyway...so she gave the pup to her daughter and her husband who took the poor thing to the vet ASAP to get it dewormed. At least she's in good hands now.
