We were talking about this piece of 80's awesomeness in another thread, but I thought it could use one of its own. So lets go! How super is this movie?:) Who is your favorite character? What was the scariest part? The saddest? Does anyone else think the guy who sings "Flying Dreams" sounds like John Lovitz?
I'm a long time fan, I think watching this movie as a kid shaped some of my beliefs about proper treatment of animals (the lab scene during the rat transformation scared the pee out of me). I absolutley love Mrs. Brisby, Dr. Ages and Justin (I had such a crush on him!), but my two favorites had to be Jeremy the crow ("excuse me, pardon me") and Auntie Shrew.
As I mentioned before I found the transformation part terrifying as a child (but it was also my favorite part), the needle going right into the rats stomach, the rat doubling over in pain and squealing, the heartbeat as the rat grows bigger...yikes, nightmares for little katiem! Also, when the mice all get sucked down the ventilation shaft, screaming...
However, none of these parts even comes close to the worst scene in the movie-the plow coming early. The absolute panic those poor animal must have felt as they desperately tried to get their families away from this huge machine of death. Auntie Shrews frantic screaming "Run, run for your lives!"...I could go on forever about this.
So share. And for those of you who have not seen it "Run, run for Blockbuster!". Don't let the fact that its an animated childrens film turn you off, it really is amazing. I'm rambling now...

YES! Loved this movie. I was terrified by the same parts.
You know, this is a classic example of how our movies growing up just outshine all the new kids stuff coming out. We learned stuff and not just how to count or whatever, but we learned a lot about the realities of the world.
Parents today seem so scared about opening their childrens eyes up and shelter them way too long! (Sorry if I am making a judgement, its just my observation in general).
I loved this movie. There was another one about a group of little animals in the woods and there is a chemical spill and they have to rush to get this plant ans save her and have to go through all this destruction to get it? With Old Mr. Badger or something?
And who can forget Furngully!

Rats of Nimh rates right up there with my favorite 80s move The Princess Bride. I've loved Nimh since I was little, bought it as soon as I found it on DVD. Wonderful move!

So I was just prompted into looking up NIHM and a) Shannon Doherty was in it! DID NOT know that.
Then got onto a Lawrence brother hunt which turned into a Rider Strong hunt. Now im reliving my childhood and teeny bop magazine!

I read it, but didn't love it (I was too used to the movie, and I was constantly being forced to accept "Mrs. Frisby", which sounds too odd).
I loved Ryder Strong...too bad he feel off the face of the Earth.

On a sad note, Dom DeLuise (the voice of Jeremy) died yesterday. He was awesome, and he will be missed.:(

Fraggle Rock is amazing! I had this mission when I was a teenager to find out the name of the quiet one with the hat over his eyes. I forgot all about that. Does anyone know? I never found out. I should google it. Google didn't exist at that point in time, I don't think, and anyway, I didn't have access. I asked everyone I came across. ARG, my mission is renewed!
