Well we attended a dog grooming competition on Sunday as our son's GF had entered. At first I almost didn't take our "new" camera because I feared losing it, but on second thought realized what is the use of having it if I don't use it.
So, since I got over 100 pictures this will be an on-going thread as I post this and that.
First I am going to post the GF's entry which theme was "Tea with Teddy" and this was so adorable! Everyone just loved this little dog which was an apalappso mix. (Sorry if I spelled or mispronounced that one :))

How cute is that. That little dog looks like a stuff animal. The second picture is adorable. The expression on both of their faces are priceless.

Wow! Now that's taking grooming up a notch. Not something I'd want my dog parading about with, but it's something to see, I'll give you that. I wonder how long it took to do that poodle?

I wondered the same thing myself Becky! Wish I would of thought of talking to the contestants as I could of - but I was just so astonished and overwhelmed by it all. Hard to believe they could do this type of grooming.

The girlfriend's dog sure is cute. He/she looks so cuddly. The others are definitely unusual. I can't imagine having the patience to do that.

I thought the dog in the fist pic was a teddy bear. :)

Evey, I am still looking at the pictures and not believing my eyes or memory! I can't imagine the time that went into some of these creations - if that is the right word.
I haven't talked to the GF about it yet, but I am not sure how she felt about how far it went. We are seeing the kids for dinner tonight and I'll be interested to hear what she thinks about it.
Ok, the 2nd place and 3rd place coming up soon. I have no idea how they decided between 1st and 2nd as they were both good.

Ok, I am going to ask for you all to guess which of the following two was 2nd place winner and which was 3rd place winner. Thought that would be fun. :)
This dog was a watermelon and theme was picnic in park:

You couldn't get any of my dogs to sit still long enough for something like that. :) The groomers clearly have lively imaginations!

Not sure what the theme was here but you can get a basic idea.

What does the second one say- "Hevim Large"?
I think the second took second and the first took third. The first looks a little too busy for my tastes.
Also, woman #2's shirt confused me and I thought she was holding a Pom!

It says "Hevim Gorge"

I'll let you know if you are right after a few more members weigh in.

She was holding a stuffed animal Pom - I never did figure out why.
Maybe this one is easier to see?

I'm sorry Diane, I wouldn't award either of them anything! Yuck.
Oh well, I'm probably in the minority as I don't even put booties on my dogs.

What does "Hevim Gorge" mean?
I thought it was a pic of a Pom on her shirt! She seems like an oddball:confused:

Becky, I'm sorry if I upset you by posting the pics. I had never seen anything like this myself! So thought I would share. However, we've never been ones to put anything on our dogs either.
What I enjoyed the most is wandering around and taking pictures of dogs that were out for a day of socializing with their owners. There is a thread on that too. :)

Oh maybe she did have a picture of a Pom on her shirt - but she also carried about a stuffed Pomerian animal. A stuffed toy dog. Just checked pic Katie and it was the stuffed animal you were seeing.
Well I am not sure if she was only one. I was just amazed and incredulous at the extent of grooming and stuff the three prize winners had to go to. It shocked me these things were even possible. If you stop and think about it the only prize winners were poodles which have the type of coat that lends itself for this stuff.
We live about 30 minutes south of a place called "Great Gorge" and it is a tourist area - in my mind. There is a big water park there which attracts many in the summer and in winter there is skiing. I am thinking maybe "Havim" is meaning Great in another language.

Thanks Alica. Actually the dog isn't the GF's. It belongs to a client of hers. She has been grooming him for a while I believe.
He was adorable and very friendly.
I was amazed at how much he looked like a bear.

Aww I likes this, didn't someone post some of this type of grooming a while back?
I wonder how they got the peacock feathers to stay on, glue?
The teddy is sooooo cute :D

I didn't know they were mixing fruit into dogs now, these designed breeds, honestly! ;)

These were great Diane and they showed up much better here than on my email...wonder why?????
I can understand Becky why you would not do any of that on a pet of your own and I agree but it amazed me as to how they did all that and the peacock one was the most fasinateing to me!

I found it interesting also! Just amazing.
I also asked J's GF what she thought of it all. She said she had seen similar last year so was aware of what to expect. As long as all things used to create these images were non-toxic to the dog it was acceptable to her and the judges.
