I'm new to the forum, so hope I don't screw up.
I've got an 8 month old registered female yellow lab (spayed).
If you've seen the movie "Marlee and Me" that's her.
She is in great health, a ball of energy, eats and drinks well, etc. She is an indoor/outdoor pet. Everything seems perfect except for one curiosity. We have ceramic tile floors, and occasionally when she get us from lying on the floor, there is a puddle near her behind -- sometimes enough to soak up a whole paper towel. I'm certain it's not urine -- no color and absolutely no odor. Seems like if it were anal or urinary, there would be both. ******l maybe? I spoke to one vet who blew me off and said she was peeing. I can't get in to see another one for 10-14 days. This has me concerned. She seems perfectly healthy otherwise. Any ideas???

This sounds very similar to my dog's urinary incontinence. She leaks pee that has no color or smell, but its definitely pee. She had a few UTI's in a row & then she was leaking all the time. We tried lots of different medications but it got very expensive. Our vet gave us the best advice after we ruled everything it could possibly be out-her quality of life is great & she's as happy as a clam so it obviously doesn't hurt her. We put baby diapers on her every night & keep her on a super strict bathroom schedule with limited water intake throughout the day. Its made all the difference!
I wanted to edit to add that we were able to directly relate how much my dog leaked by how much water intake she had-this is why we knew it was urine even though there was no smell or color.

Thanks Lisa,
Please know I am not doubting your esperience, but she sleeps on the floor right next to my bed and there is never a wet spot in the morning. I only seems to happen when she's lazying around the living room in the evening. How is it that urinary discharge can be odorless and colorless? I don't get it?

Honestly your guess is as good as mine! In my own dog, I wonder if its because of the massive amounts of water she drinks, if it dilutes the urine so much that its lacking of color & odor?
If I were you I'd see another vet, one that was more willing to determine the problem. And see if you can leave her for observation throughout the day, or collect a sample to see if they'll examine it. No vet should blow you off if your baby is LEAKING ANYTHING, am I right? ;) Because she seems otherwise fine I'd say that waiting to get in with a vet is OK, but you should have an emergency plan in place just in case her behavior changes or any part of her takes a turn for the worse.
is that other vet the only one in the area for you to see?
if my vet told me my dog was leaking urine and didn't offer any solutoion, i wouldn't see him for that very reason.
i don't have any suggestions for you but keep a close eye on her and take note of any changes. maybe start making a record of where and at what time she "leaks". the more information for the vet, the better, right?
i hope your baby gets better, whatever it is.

hello and welcome to petlovers! I'm glad you are taking your pup to see another vet. Please let us know what you find out.

what's the consistency? is it free flowing or more like mucus? is her butt wet or do you just notice it after she gets up? is it right after she eats or drinks?

Thanks for asking. Consistency is completely watery -- like urine only colorless and odorless. I've never seen her butt wet -- just the occasional puddle when she gets up. I've never seen her drip when walking across the floor either. Haven't noticed any correlation at all to when she eats or drinks. You can wipe up a puddle with a white paper towel and see no discoloration as with urine. You can also put the wet paper towl right up to your nose, take a big whiff, and smell nothing.

We have the same problem with our seven-month-old puppy, goldie-lab mix. We got her from a rescue when she was 11 weeks old at which time she had just been spayed. We had no problems until about 3 weeks ago, when we started noticing a puddle at times when she got up, or a wet spot on her bed. Colorless, odorless, like urine but absolutely no smell. It happens sometimes after she has been sleeping but sometimes while she is awake, too. She doesn't dribble while she's walking. She asks to go outside and does her business while outside. Very active; no other symptoms, just like your lab. One other thing, though, we have two other spayed females, one just over a year and one 8 years old. The 8 year old just started mounting her... often. Our next step is trying to get a fluid sample to get it analyzed. If you get any answers for your dog, please share. Thanks.
