Apologies again for the rubbish phone pic, but you get the jist.

Here's Aubrey trying out a fly mask that's too small for him, unfortunately... Doesn't he look eeeeevil in it?

I'm so worried about him. He's doing so well so far this year, but I'm so worried every morning when I get there that I'm gonna find him bald... I know it's going to happen eventually, it's just a waiting game... but I'm dreading it so bad. :(

and just a little pic of the lovely peaceful morning scene:

He looks like he belongs in a film with that on. What exactly does it do? That's probably a dumb question but I don't know! :-)

That poor, poor horse. I hate people dressing their pets up ;)

Poor aubrey, he suffers from severe sweet itch. It's like an allergy to flies and midges, if they even touch him he's bothered to heck, if they bite him he gets so itchy that he scratches until he bleeds all over. His mane and tail go bald, he gets into a terrible state. So the rug and mask are to protect him from the evil pests.

I'm over protecting him this year, and so far he's doing perfectly well... I'm just so scared! I don't want to let him get bad this year.

I'm so sorry for Aubrey, poor guy. He looks dressed as farmer on second pic.

Well I hope Aubrey has a better summer this year. Is the hat something you thought up or are they made specifically for horses?

I liked the second picture also. You need to post pictures more often - or should I say post more pictures. LOL

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone. I do feel sorry for that poor horse when the fly season starts.

They're made especially for horses with sweet-itch, you can buy many varieties of the rugs and masks from any horsey shop. It's a common problem, but he's the only one with it out of the 21 horses we have there. Typical that I get the duff one! :p Just kidding, I love him to pieces.

He didn't have sweet-itch when I first took him on, it developed not long after I started working at the RSPCA... And I still wonder if it was the stress of not seeing me around all the time like he was used to. (Not that not seeing me is stressful! Lol.) Now I'm back with him all the time, so you never know, it could make a difference. So far so good anyway. Fingers crossed.

Hmmm... that's a good idea! I recently got some dust masks for myself, and I was planning on drawing some faces on them... but then I thought I might get high on the ink fumes! :p Not so clever.

Ha ha, this is a really pointless vid, really short and too close up... But this is Honey-Bee...The horse that went a couple of weeks poking me in the eye with her ear every morning, then got me with her lashes.

She certainly didn't want you snapping pics of her when she didn't have her best on! ;-)

She's such a pretty mare when she's got a clean headcollar on and had a brush up. I've not got a decent picture of her, I have got to get one... This is the only one I have and it is pants. Doesn't do her justice at all. And when she trots... Wow!! Amazing leg action. She floats. Floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee. ;)

Oh, and we've since replaced the fencing!! It looks so awful with all those knots. Much nicer now.

She still looks fantastic in that photo - her mane is a brilliant colour in contrast to her. I love it.

Here's Aubs sporting his new fly mask, which fits perfectly and doesn't make him look quite so evil. :p I love this animal.

Yeah, the bitey flies are bad when it's hot. They're only thin, it's not like a turn-out rug or anything.

Do they come with air-con? Pimp my horse
