...is 'drug' the correct form of the word? It doesn't sound right...oh well.

I came home from work, just two days after losing an entire litter of foster kittens to FIV. Charles sat me on the couch and said he had something to show me. He said I couldn't keep it, but that I had to help it. I got excited, and thought he'd found a kitten. He said it wasn't a kitten, or a puppy, but it was a baby...so, I was all confuzzled. What other kinds of babies could he possibly scrounge up?

None other than a little birdie!

Apparently, they had to fight tooth and nail to get the little guy away from Catillac, but they succeeded. At first, he said the bird wasn't moving around...they thought he would die shortly. But, in the condition I saw him in, I say it was just shock.

As I was looking at him, his chirping and tweeting shortly caught the attention of a particular feline...and the always-wanting-to-help-the-babies canine...

I love this picture because you can see Chica's head on the other side of the cage...

I let the birdie go after an evaluation, he seemed fine and flew out of the cage as fast as ever...

That was a lucky bird. It looks like an adult White Throated Sparrow. Catillac must not have been in the mood to make a kill. Because it only takes one tiny puncture from a cat's tooth or a claw to be fatal to a wild bird.

I think Catillac's the one who should be praised. If she'd wanted to kill it she would have :) She must have been gentle

She looks like the little bird who has built her nest in the light fixture of my carport. She has such a sweet face, but as soon as she realized she is being looked at she flys off.

So now I park with the back of the car hanging out to prevent exhaust fumes from killing her brood, and am unable to use spray to get rid of the red wasps who are taking over in the cieling beams. I sure hope sparrows eat red wasps, otherwise they are going to be plentiful by the time her babies leave the nest.
