Well who ever she is with in that first picture, I'd say she has found a protector! That picture is priceless. Glad she finally has a name - any story behind the choice?

That is Quanto, my boy with the pancreatic disease. He's also my 'failed' show dog, failed because of his genetic disease. Quanto is my favorite dog. I've not met one person yet, who'd not take him in a moment. That's the kind of dog he is. Fun, mischievous, dedicated and loyal, gentle yet fierce when needed, and a superbly lovely specimen of the German Shepherd breed. He's my constant companion, even when not out training. He took to the pup in moments, and is 100% reliable with her. My other two I still watch closely as they're kind of rough when they play.
Diane, Krystal suggested a name that I liked. Because I did, I started researching any meaning it had. Her suggestion was Moxen. As I searched the name Moska popped up, I was instantly hooked. The breeder also liked the sound of it, so it is now all hers.

Thanks for sharing the story on how Moska got her name. I like it when people put thought behind choosing a name for their pet.

Well, I would make some comment as to how she's growing (since she's gaining weight) but that first picture just makes it seem silly. :silly: Great photos, btw. What is the meaning of her name?

Nope, it's just a gnarly stick.
Thanks guys, I think she's a sweetie too. And at least no one's asking me if she's cantaloupe or honeydew!:p

I took another jaunt with my daughter today. Both boys came along, and of course Moska. She's slowing getting bigger, but her attitude is big enough for 3 puppies. She never tires, I'm surprised at her endurance for her age. She kept up easily with my two boys.
So, here's a few photos of today's walk.

WOW Becky...your dogs are very very nice looking and Moska is staying right in there.....I bet it gets hot there........Our son lives in Yuma,AZ and it stays hot there too. The tumbel weeds reminded me of Texas though lol ( if indeed I am seeing tumble weeds)
Your daughter has beautiful hair!
Macawpower58
04-28-2009, 02:57 AM
Thanks Judy, I'll tell Kelly you like her hair. There will be tumbleweeds once the vegetation dries up and blows about. They are the beginning of it. We're not too hot yet, the highest we've been so far is the hi 80's. Today was nice and cool, about 70 or so, with a nice breeze. Perfect walking weather. We'll hit close to 118 or so during hi-summer.
I think my boys are a good influence on Moska. They're so obedient, she's never encouraged to run about, or ignore me. She's learning the rules, and doesn't even know it! They also think she's the 'cat's meow'.

Quanto is also my heart dog. I love the others, but in reality, he is the dog I'd always chose to accompany me. Sadly I have to leave him at home at times in order to give every one their special time.

Wow you weren't kidding when you said she was growing slowly! I just love that face.
I'd say that Quanto was getting a bit tired of her in that third picture. Although it looks like he recovered and decided to play some more.

Thanks guys. She's never going to be one of those big shepherds, but hopefully she'll not be too tiny. Time will tell.
I took her to training tonight, and the little booger did great in obedience, but when it came time to chase her tug, all she'd do is look for dropped food! Them pups just never do what you want them too!

lol give her time. When walking Anubis the first time at the club he was looking for food and rocks to play with....thankfully he has grown out of picking up rocks/sticks....anyway, when we went on the field he barked for the tug like crazy, and did well.....he really wanted the sleeve on the ground through the fence while we were watching one of the other dogs. Hopefully she'll come around soon enough. She looks nice, but any idea on her weight at this point? Just curious, why did you do obedience before the tug work?

Hum......I've no idea why. Every club and seminar I've ever been to, has always done OB before protection. I guess I just follow the trend. I think mainly because once protection is brought out, many of the dogs are too loaded to settle back down into OB, but that's just a guess.
She's 21 pounds at 14 weeks. That's about 10 pounds below the norm I think. I think she was just in love with the treats used last night, liver! All the dogs were going crazy for the 'droppings'. Moska is usually very crazy for anything moving, bites well, and has a great hold. Anubis is already on the sleeve? lol, moska still has all her baby teeth, and could never get her mouth around it! She's got some growing to do to catch up with Anubis.
Oh well, pups will be pups, and she may have just had an off night.

No no haha Anubis isn't biting on the sleeve yet. Waiting for that mouth to get just a little bit bigger....and for him to stop teething which will be another 2 months I'm sure, but for now the pillow. His grips are great, but I'm not going to push anything at this point, Lyle is an awesome helper and is teaching me a lot....working at the same place helps too since we can talk a lot and annoy everyone about dogs lol. Moska doesn't sound THAT little by the weight. Anubis weighed in two weeks ago at 35.5 lbs...I think 16? weeks that was....and Moska is a female. Any idea on her parents weight? I've seen some females weighing 48 lbs, and then females like Zelda weighing around 70 lbs, and just solid muscle. Hopefully she'll grow fine. That does make sense about the OB before protection with what you said. I do drive building with Anubis and then follow with obedience...all motivational and fun, and he seems to already be doing well at switching from one to another. He can go right back into either drive building from ob or ob from drive building with no problem. He loves to work, I just need to start on his tracking and Lyles going to help me with that. I'm curious, is Moska an ankle biter? lol

Moska can usually switch at home, but I don't normally ask her to so with liver under her feet. :p Ankle biter for sure. I'll need a new wardrobe when I'm done growing her. All my pants have rips in them, and many of my shirt sleeves. My hands look like I was in a berry patch.
I'm not sure of her parents weights. Her mom is small, I doubt much over 55 pds. Her dad is oversize, probably going 85 to 95, and he's only two years. I've seen other litters from her mom, and she throws her size. Unless Moska ia going to have a super surprise growth rate, I'm guessing 50-60 pounds tops.
