Having just seen our families last weekend at our wedding, we decided to stay home today and relax. This past week has been really crazy. We were going to take the boat out on its maiden voyage, but all the dang bait shops were closed today!
So instead, I decided to go out and get Schatze. I gave her a bath and brought her in and the 3 of us went on a 3 mile walk. It was the warmest day so far here, we were able to wear a t-shirt and shorts for the first time!
I knew I had to be delicate with the cats, so while Schatze was outside, we just let the cats out. Here's them being apprehensive. Tosca growled and puffed the whole time, and Zahli didn't really care too much. She'll make the adjustment to dogs easier since she was in a foster home with dogs.

And here she is. She did so well. She wasn't too bothered by the leash - she hasn't been on a leash since October.
Tuckered out after our walk.

She's a lover!

And super smart. I had her sitting in minutes. She knows her name and comes to it. I think she's going to be very easy to train. And she doesn't show that much interest in the cats, so that's good. She was curious, but not overly pushy and didn't seem to mind when Tosca hissed at her.

Sounds like you all had a nice relaxing day! That is great and Schatze is gorgeous. Now I have to ask.................did you walk 3 miles in bare feet? My feet were hurting just imagining it. LOL

Ok, out with it! Is she now yours? One of your other threads stated you'd have to pay an arm and leg for her. So........what's up?
I so hope she is all yours, and yours alone. She's turned into a real beauty, and it's great that her meeting with the cat was peaceful.
I'm not remarking on your kitties, everyone knows they're lovely.

She is definately ours now. She was officially given to us the Monday after our wedding as our wedding present. She will have to live out at the kennel until we get jobs and move, but we'll bust her out every now and again.
I didn't walk 3 miles in barefeet. The 3 of us had to come home and have a nap after it though, lol.

It wasn't too bad. Tosca was the most upset, which is what I expected. When Zahli first came to the shelter, she was fostered with a family that had dogs and other cats. She puffed and hissed at first, but then went about her business and acted as if the dog didn't exist.
Tosca, hissed and puffed and never took her eyes of Schatze. She's met my sister's dogs, but that didn't go well because they are used to cats and she's only met them as dogs. They were very much in her space and wanted to meet her, and she wanted none of that. I know it will take her a long time to adjust to dogs, but like I said, I was very pleasantly surprised that Schatze was not that interested in the cats.
I had Schatze crated in the house while we all napped. I'm sure the cats never stopped staring at her in there. It's a good thing she's crate trained because I can crate her when we leave and the cats will have lots of time to adjust.

We had some bummin' to do in Eau Claire yesterday. Whenever we make a trip over there, we always stop in Petco and Petsmart. I'm like a kid in a candy store now. I am soo excited to by dog stuffs!
I bought my first dog toys. A rubber ball thingie and a cow! Every Wisconsin dog needs a squeaky cow! Schatze loved both her toys.
Take THAT, cow!

Adorable! Yes, every dog should have a squeaky cow!:).

Well today was the first day I gave it to her, and only had about a half an hour to spend with her. I am usually fine with noise, as long as it doesn't squeak without an animal making to do so!

You're actually right! I don't know anyone who hasn't got a squeaky cow for their dog... Odd
I love going into pet stores to buy new stuff, I spend aaages in there, looking round about 5 times before actually choosing something. And this is a store I go in like every week! It never gets old.
Soon you'll have boxes and boxes overflowing with dog toys...
