Hi everyone,
I'm new here and have a question. I'm wondering if I should be worried.
Yesterday I adopted a four-month-old male kitten (London) from a friend who decided that she could no longer care for him. My concern is that so far he hasn't pooped yet. I heard him go in his litter box a couple of hours ago, and it looks like he only peed a little. He has been eating, so I feel like he should probably have pooped by now. Is this normal for a re-homed kitty to be shy about pooping in his new box? At what point should I become concerned? He hasn't been here quite 24 hours yet. More like 18.
Other than that, he is the greatest little guy. He is SO sweet and warmed up to his new home almost instantly. He hasn't been hiding much at all. He actually loves to sit on my lap and purr like crazy. :)

By any chance do you have a dog also? I ask because nasty as it sounds, dogs love to eat a cats poop.................and I am thinking maybe your cat has pooped but your dog has made it disappear so to speak.
I would think your new kitty should have pooped within 24 hours, but I'm hoping another cat lover will be along soon to give you another opinion.

He may have pooped at his old place just before you brought him to his forever home.
If he's eating normally and no vomiting I wouldn't worry just yet, he should go by tomorrow, if not by then, give your vet a call.
Have you changed his food? what is he eating?
Congratulations on your new furbaby, and welcome to the forum! I look forward to hearing more about London, he sounds lovely!

Thank you all so much for your replies! Figures, he pooped just after I posted the thread! He's actually gone a couple of times now, so all's good.
Here's a picture of him...

Thank you, thank you! You all really are a fabulous group.
So a little about London... At the end of January my friend and her two kids adopted London (who they called Meow). I saw him the first day they brought him home and instantly fell in love because he looks just like the cat I grew up with, who lives with my parents. (His name is Kent -- but we call him Ken-Ken -- and he's about 13 now.)
To make a long story short, I mentioned on Facebook how badly I wanted a kitten, and suddenly people started coming out of the wood work to offer me kitties. One friend said that there's a stray in her parents' backyard who had kittens and that I could take one of them. And then I heard that my other friend was looking to get rid of Meow/London because her kids were basically over him and were a bit mean to him. So with that, I jumped at the chance to adopt him. I went over to her house yesterday to pick up the little guy, took a detour to my parents' house to introduce him to Ken-Ken (he wasn't a fan of London!) and then brought him home.
Within five minutes of being home he came out of his carrier and was sitting on my lap, purring away. He really is the sweetest guy. He's sitting on my lap right now, actually. He seems to have a thing for the computer. :)
Last night was his first night with me, which was interesting. He fell asleep with me, and that was great. But at 6:45 he found a Livestrong bracelet and decided to make it a new toy, batting it all around the bedroom. Fifteen minutes later he found a hair tie and started batting that around -- ON THE BED! Haha... He's so cute, I couldn't get mad. But I am a bit tired! Hopefully he'll be a little calmer tonight.
I'll be sure to keep posting updates!

Thanks for sharing London's story. clearly the two of you were meant to be together!
It's good he can invent Games and entertain himself, but an interactive Games session between the two of you at about the same time every night will help strengthen your bond, and help him burn off some of his kitten energy. In that way you might get a little sleep! :)
Can't wait to hear more he sounds like such a personable little fellow! (and most likely greatly relieved to be away from those mean Big Kittens)
