Helena passed away a few days ago:( I knew it was coming and considering she was a pet store feeder rat a year and a half is a pretty good run.
I may not adopt more rats but there will always be a place in my heart for my favorite rodents.

I once told myself that I was done with rats as well. After the amount of heartbreak I went through with Cool Whip...I was done. However, Alicia (PL member) says that once you're a rat lover, you're always a rat lover.

It'll take some time...but, I bet you'll rescue more. I'm rescuing a new one after nearly 6 months...I think it's time.

I am sorry about Helena passing. It is ashame that they have such short lives. After I lost my last rat (I had 10 at one time) I said no more. The heartbreak was to much. After about 3-4 months I was really starting to miss holding them at night while I watched T.V. So I ended up with two more. They have the sweetest personality. Rest in peace Helena.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your Helena. I can understand how difficult it must be to love pets that have such short life spans.

After you've grieved awhile though you may find yourself looking for another rattie or two who need a forever home. They won't take Helena's place you know. It would be in honor of Helena's life and love, that you open your heart and home to another.

Helena was so lucky to have had you to love her, and keep her happy and well cared for til the end. It's all luck of the draw with these poor animals who they end up with, and I'm sure that if Helena could have chosen anyone to go home with it would have been you!

So sorry for your sad loss, so heart-breaking. :(
