First of all, hello as I am brand new. I am in dire need of some help. Here's the rundown.
When I moved in with my girlfriend she had 2 female cats, both indoor, (8yrs old), from the same litter. Within a few weeks, one of the cats (the dominant one) began hissing and growling at me as I was petting her sister. (Keep in mind, I am a cat owner and lover). As weeks went by she started to get worse and worse, I just stayed away from her, but if I walked into a room that she might be hiding in, she would growl until one day she hissed and spit at my girlfriend whom she never did that with. Long story short, we ended up having to put that one down as her quality of life was just horrible, would hide in corners and growl constantly.
Also, keep in mind I never once did anything to harm either of these cats, all i did was show them love and affection.
Well, yesterday, the other cat whom has always been affectionate towards me started growling and hissing. Today she pooped on the floor and growled and spit when I walked into my bedroom (she was under the bed) and is beginning to do the same things her sister did. We have an appointment with the Veterinarian next week, but I'm really trying to wrap my head around this.
Could it be hereditary? Something they got into and possibly ate around the house? A disease?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
