So, I'm aking a four day trip and there's no one here that I feel comfortable with asking to feed my betta. I was thinking of bringing Peregrine with me in a plastic container with holes in the lid like what fish come in at pet stores. It would be easy to bring the tank in the car sans water, and then I could transfer him when I get there. Would this be too stressful for him? It's a 5-7 hour drive depending on traffic. :/

I'm not sure about the car ride, but they do make feeders to put in the fish tank that slowly dissolves and feeds the fish daily.

I've tried one before, made my little 1.5 gallon tank a cloudy mess in under a day. XP

what about the clicker kind that release a lil food on a set timer?

It does sound easier just to take the lil guy huh?
I dunno how well they travel tho, but it cant be worse than some of the bowls I've seen some manage to live in.

True, I may just be worrying too much. Everyone keeps telling me that bettas are hardy fish but I keep expecting mine to die. :/

i hope i don't get yelled at or anything, but i have found bettas to go an extraordinary time without food. i had one that didn't eat for months. if you absolutely can't figure something out, he'll probably be okay until you get back.

If you bring your fish, Put him in a portable container that wont let the water spill out. And keep the container covered in black except the air holes.

I took my betta on a trip. He did fine, I used one of those huge 'big gulp' containers from a convenience store. The one thing you must be careful is of temperature. I'd take my betta in every store and restaurant I went to. My trip was during the winter, and he'd have frozen if left in the car. Same with warm temps, it doesn't take long for a car to overheat.

Fortunately I'll only be making one quick stop along the way- at a gas station. Though I have made the trip on one tank of gas before (go Civic go). Maybe I'll gas up before I go instead, though it is nice to get a quick break during that drive. After LA I often feel like a breather, lol. Grapevine's pretty, but the five going through LA is not. Between the GIANT blind-you signs at the Citadel (creepiest name for a shopping center EVER btw) and the inevitable stop-and-go traffic where the 5 cuts down to two lanes, the five there is just not very fun (or pretty).

Wow, it survived in regular room temp of cold weather?
