I have to tell you all, my keet is very sick. Please don't tell me to take her to an avian vet! I already know. I found out reciently she is 7 1/2 thinking she was only 5. Anyway her feathers are ruffled and she is sleeping alot. full of stress, and sleeping on the very bottom perch I have set up for her food. She seems to be eating and I have since seperated her from the others.Since I have taken her away from the others, she seems to be a little more perky? I hope its just molting time? I have never seen her like this before. I also tried to see if maybe an egg? She has never had eggs before. Well time will tell I am deeply heartfelt and very, very sad!:( I will be checking her in to the vets very soon. I have to wait till then to see whats wrong? Thanks for listening.

No I haven't put a warming light. I don't have one? It is at least 100 here. I am wondering maybe thats warm enough? Poor girl. She seems a little more content by herself. She is preaning herself, maybe too much? Her butt looks sore? Thats why I had to wonder if she is egg bound? Also her crop looks big? It could be anything. I have absalutelly no money to bring her in? Why does she have to be sick at this time? I am so upset by this and scared she will die? I haven't left her side. She is so very sick. Where we go for vets, they want money up front. Maybe I will be able to get her looked at, and just maybe I can pay later? I really wish they would do this,I have always paid up front and at this time we are having money troubles? I hate to tell my life but, so you will understand? Please pray she doesn't die. Thanks

Well I had Prettygirl in my room all day and night. She seems okay this morning. I was laying in bed and looked over to her and she was eating. She is perched on the top perch. She hasen't drank water so far as I can see:confused: I think that being in with the others may have stressed her? I don't know. But maybe she is feeling a little better? I will let you all know and thanks so much for all you warm wishes. Gail

Good News. I am bringing Prettygirl to the vets at 6:45 tonight. It will cost alot but its very worth it. I will let you all know when I get home what is wrong. I can bet its her crop? Its very large and she doesn't drink or eat much. No water what so ever. She is also not tame. thanks. Gail

:( Well all, Prettygirl is very ill and probably won't live. The doctor said she has a yeast infection, but isen't sure till the test come back. She might have an airborn infection as well. She is a boy! The doctor told us. I am so very sad as my husband and I cryed. If she doesn't pull through,I am having an autopsy done, for fear my other birds may have cought it? Oh dear this I cannot take. This week has been very bad, needless to say. My daughter tried to take her life on monday. My bird is dieing, and possible may have giving it to the others:( We have to have them all check if the test come back bad. Also her crop is a little mushy and she has lost alot of weight. Hard to tell when they are all puffed up? One day she is great, and the next I am told she is dieing. What a terrible day and I am just to sad to think anymore. All my flock could be ill? I have meds to give her. I hope it works. Thanks for listeing.Gail

Oh Gail, I'm so, so sorry to hear about that! But it is definitely good to hear that the vet was able to find out the problem so that Prettygirl has a better chance of getting better. We'll just hope and pray that the test comes back negative! You are doing the right thing though. Remember that we are all here to help you out and listen to anything. God bless!

Well, when I woke up this morning, she kissed herself in the mirror. That to me is a good sign. She is just so stressed. I have her in my room where it is calming. Its kinda dark in there, as the sun only comes through very early.Anyway I am getting ready to syringe her meds to her. This one I am giving her is all vitamins. The other I have to pick up from the drug store. Its a antibotic. Poor girl. She is all puffed up. She is my girl that is not tame. She loves being in a towel and being fed her vit. She was very good with the doctor even he said so for not being tame. I told him that reciently I let her fly around the room, that may have stressed her. I feel so bad. Well I will let you all know. I am so thankful for this site. I don't know what I would do? You are all so good to me. I have no words for what I need to say. Thank you all and I will keep updating okay? Love,Gail

You could try feeding him with a syringe.

Jenny
06-30-2003, 12:31 AM
Yes, if he's not eating it'd probably be the best idea to have the vet show you how to force-feed him. I'm still praying that he'll get better, and that's great that he's had a fabulous 71/2 years with you though! :)

Hi Gail,
I am soooo sorry to hear about Prettygirl being so sick. It is so sad and makes us feel so helpless to help them. You are doing everything possible and are a good birdmom. Grey's thought of feeding with a syringe is a good one. You could do this with water and food.............the pet stores have the special formula that you mix .............it is generally used when hand feeding babies.

I will keep you, Prettygirl and your family in my prayers.

May God Bless you and your family.

Diane

Okay an update. She is eating and drinking, but very little. I am giving her meds from a syrange. She is taking them well. She seems more happy in my room, but no singing yet. She always use to wakes me up with her beautiful songs and talking so happy. Her feathers look so much better. I am calling her a her because, I can't ever call her a he! I have always thought she was a girl. So I think if I call her prettyboy that would upset her more.LOL. I am not really sure how she is doing, till I call sometime tommorow and find out what she has? I am not sure they really know? She is thin and things are not all together okay all the way,but we sure are trying. Thanks all for your help and prayers and concern. I just love yah all,Gail

Okay,an update. Prettygirl's test all came back and she is good. The doc, doesn't think she has yeast or clmidayia. Which is a great thing. She seems better and is eating. I had her outside in her cage and thats when she sang up a toon. The doctor seems to think, that it was her way of telling me she is very unhappy in the room with the others? You see she had the whole house to herself and then to have these 2 here with her made her very sad.)o: She is also in molt. That always seems to affect her. Thanks and talk soon. Gail

Pretty girl seems to be doing good. I since have put her back with the others. She is singing and seems happy. I sometimes wonder? I had to put her back, she was very sad as she started to get a little better. Her tests all came back good. She is a little thin. I leave music on for them during the day. More later

All of my birds are doing good. I am very pleased to say. Pretty girl is back to her old self. Molting has really been hard on my poor girl. This is the first time she took it this hard. Hopefully they will get through this molting thing. The feathers they lose already made too pillows! LOL( just playing.)

Hi Redstorm,

I am so happy to hear that Pretty girl -boy and all your flock are doing well! Was it confirmed that the whole problem was from a rough molt?
