Decided to get more use from our trees this year and created our own Valentine's Day trees:

WOW! That fireplace looks just like one at my mom's house - she has three.

I think its so nice the way you were able to keep the cheer going, even after the Christmas season. What's up for St Patrick's day.....and Easter.....???

you might as well leave them up year round as seasonal decorations spots!

Well the smaller one is away already and the larger I plan on taking down tonight. Somehow I think if I kept them up all year they'd become like many other things that kind of fade into the woodwork so to speak.

I've seen people get an artificial decorative tree and put white lights on it for year round and am thinking of maybe doing something like that. The lights of the trees cheer me when it is gloomy out.

Well, if I do decide to do a St. Patrick's tree I'll be sure and post pictures. LOL

Diane, you're so krafty. I'd have never thaught of re-using a tree. Great idea, and it sets a nice mood for that special day.

Did you get flowers and candy?

Not exactly, we went out for a nice Valentine's dinner at Picatinny Arsenal (army base) in area with two other couples. They gave the ladies a box of chocolate cherries and a candied flower. So that was our treat to each other. They served filet mignon and 3 stuffed shrimp. Very nice portion of the filet and velvet chocolate cake for dessert. Also a champagne toast.

You are talking about the lights on the tree cheering you up....I have clear lights in two different places in our house. One is woven in and out of my bear collection which I need to change out with other bears because these were Christmas and then I have one string on top of the bird cage I got that my sister Kay made. The top is designed like a Tikki hut so no birds can get to the strings. I have silk flowers up there with some of my bird collection...They are pretty cool!!!!!

Judy that sounds lovely. Can you take a photo?

Diane, your dinner sounds yummy. I love filet mignon, and shrimp is a close second. Champagne and cake to round out the evening. Doesn't sound like it could have been any nicer.
