So Jim emailed me to tell me he took new pictures. Ah, this will be a VERY hard decision. It will basically be a decision between the red collar....and the blue collar pup. As of now the blue collar is what Jim thinks will be the pick of the litter....since many things could change since he made that evaluation I'm waiting until the mid 7th week when he does more tests and videos again to make my final decision. They all look great.....the darker ones look like their wearing boots with the color difference lol. The first two are who I'll be deciding between. I'm just glad there weren't 6 or 7 males to choose from. Anyway here they are. This shows a better shot from the side of each and their coloring. I like the red collars looks better....but I'm not picking based solely on looks. Ahhh, the excitement, it's SO close.
Heres the red collar boy.

Here is the blue collar boy, they nick named him "Chivo". He thinks he'll be the best pick for what I want to do with the pup so his advice will really weigh in on my decision.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb240/sheeve07/PIC_1046.jpg
And here is the last one who I know I will not be choosing.

haha, they might have been gone through mud.....or worse lol.....but that is the color of their legs. Eventually they will look like.....as my dad always says, bird legs.....They'll look like skinny legs that had dark black lines on the paws and black on the front of the legs.....but when they run.....or even walk into you it feels like a brick hitting you.

Judging from these photos........
For me, it's blue collar. I like his stance, and his air of confidence. It shows through even in these photos. His stance is proud. His tail high with pride and he shows that he is completely at ease in his surroundings. I do not see this in the other pups.
They're all good looking pups, but blue collar has a strong character already showing.

Becky I will say this though....the females....the "pick of the litter" female who is already reserved now.....does not look the most confident in her picture in fact two of the pups look more confident than her. The other two I talked about look like the blue collar male in this pic in their stance. I think pictures don't always tell everything....though they may in these. I don't see it being uncomfortable in the red collar male .....I do see it in the last male though. Judging by just pics the blue collar does look the most confident. To me the red collar pup looks at ease though, very intent on the food, but the body looks relaxed also. It's going to be a hard decision....I liked what I saw in the videos from the red collar male better to be honest. The only thing I noticed about the blue collar male that was better in the videos was how deep he stuck his nose in the ground where the moles were. I think he sent me like 20 videos total. He will be sending more the beginning of the 7th week most likely. Now if I had a ton of money I would just get them both lol, but $1,800 is a lot of money.

Which is why I said my choice is just from the photos. I know they can all have good, and bad photo moments.
I don't know enough to see bone, or structure differences, at this age.

Hmm, decisions decisons lol. This will be a tough one. Are you familiar with Ex Jipo me? I've talked to his owner quite a bit, and he is the typical Mambo son, but I also noticed on his pedigree pic.....if thats all I had seen I would have thought he was lacking confidence. He said he should be getting up new videos of Ex and also of the previous litter of pups that are being trained now. The only reason I know I do not want the third male is because he is the most laid back pup of the bunch. Still a nice pup, but I'm certain I won't be picking him. Oh well I still have a week and a half to pick lol.

I think Jim's going to try to get pictures sometime soon today or tomorrow. He's telling me the red collar pup is a lot more outgoing now, and both red and blue collar pups are fearless and will jump off of objects and each other when in pursuit, bite pant legs, ect ect. I do think I have decided on the red collar pup. And I found a video of a young 13 week female....a grand son of Mambo....awesome dog, striking in looks, excellent build already. Her build is very masculine, big boned, and a lot of confidence. She has a strong full mouth grip, and could be lifted up at his head in height. Very nice dog.

I'd imagine if the genetics are there, everyone one of those pups would work out. Go with your gut, and take the one that you think you'll like best.
Even breeders don't always get right, which pup will end up to be the best. I've known several who's 'pick of the litters' were outdone by lesser seeming pups. It's much of a gamble with pups anyway.
I'm sure you'll love the pup, and do well with him.

I made it official....I picked the red collar. At the beginning of the 5th week Jim said the blue colar....at that time....would have been pick of the litter. The blue collar was the most outgoing at that time also......now the red collar is the more outgoing pup. The blue collar does seem to be more calm and patient at this point.....but I'm really not looking for calmness and patience at this age. He said now if he had picked for me he would have chosen the red collar. Anyway....I'm ridiculously excited, JUST 1 WEEK!! I pick him up next Sunday. He's getting his tattoo here in a few days also.

I'm glad you've made a choice, and I do hope this pup makes you super happy!
Though, I have a silly question...the first time I've ever seen a GSD like Drago or these puppies is through you...is it just their line that gives them the unique coloring?

Not a silly question at all....You're just not educated on the breed and most aren't. I'm going off on a limb here....you're probably use to black and tans right? They are either American lines, or German showlines. They do have the drive for protection work, but it typically is not as high as the lines I'm getting a pup out of, not as intense, and they are just full of energy compared to show lines.....there are some show line German Shepherds who can easily match up with these, but not AS often. My puppy is almost completely out of Czech lines. There is a small amount of Eastern German in him though going way back on the sires side of the pedigree. Czech and Eastern German lines typically have a lot of sables and dark sables like Drago. They're considered working lines. If you saw the picture of "Anubis" sire Mambo, he is from the Czech republic, and he is known for producing some awesome working dogs, that have fight drive...needed for police....which a lot of showlines don't always have....and he also brings true confidence, and tons of prey drive to his puppies. THere are also West German working lines which have produced some of the hardest dogs out there....however I will never get one even when I can handle one. I've been told it really isn't a dog you want to live with....superb working dog.....but not a family dog from most I've talked to. I'm almost certain every chance I get I'll be taking the new pup out with me meeting new people and going to new places....not enough to stress him out, but you know what I mean.

Also keep in mind there is a LOT more information that was left out on my previous comment. It would take quite some time to fully explain the difference between the different lines, who has what, ect ect.
Edit......Oh yeah, and if you remember Zelda that I use to have. She was solid black. There are some solid black american lines......however she was czech/eastern german working lines. I will be co-owning her in a few months from now again. She is about to obtain her BH title, and her Schutzhund 1.

Tiffers, sables (like Husky's pup) are the dominant color. It took years of careful breeding for the color most people are used to 'black and tan'. Now a days, the show folk are trying to make the black and tan's, black and red. They are concentrating on trying to get a deep rich shade of red, instead of the lighter tan of the olden days. This breeding for looks has sadly caused much working ability to be lessened in the show dogs.
The reason there are so many sable workingline dogs, is because color is not what is bred for. With sable being the dominant color, it is much more common. Work ethics are the most important thing to a breeder of working dogs.
The structure, color, and many other aspects of the two lines are can be extremely different, because each is bred for something specific.
Another reason you don't see as many sables, is workingline dogs are an 'acquired taste'. They are not the dogs commonly sold in newspapers and petshops. Many workingdog breeders don't like putting them in an unknowing pet home. They can make wonderful household pets, but the training for them is a must! Without it, they can become little nightmares. Most normal pet owners don't want to spend so much time training their dogs. They just want to enjoy them. Showlines are very beautiful, and have an easier going temperment. They do make easier pets to live with.

agreed lol. I do understand looks aren't everything, but to me there is nothing like a nice, very dark sable with brown around the eyes. It looks like I'll end up having the dark part, if not both of those characteristics. I'm going to post another picture. This is all of the puppies eating at the same time. I think it was from the 6th week also. I don't know if he's skipping the 7th week pictures or what now. In a nut shell my puppy so far is showing great prey drive, he's fearless, he's biting pant legs, arm sleeves, ect, he is the most out going puppy in the litter, and he is a little more of a wild child compared to the other males who are more calm and patient....I'd prefer him to be like he is though at this stage anyway. And he is also decently independent, but not TOO independent. The blue male was even more independent than "Anubis" . Here is the picture.

Thanks, and yes it was a VERY hard decision. But as I've been told....you CAN'T go wrong with Mambo z Pohranicni Straze.....that's his sire...I had been debating a future litter for a female also, but I think I finally have decided after looking at a lot of litters and older females, to co-own a female, Zelda...that I use to have here. I sold her back when I didn't know as much...which is good because she is very well socialized, and coming along greatly in her training. I'll be getting her back after she gets a BH and Schutzhund 1 title.

Take a look on the third page of this post. If you look at the one that is almost completely black.....the one beside her is "Anubis" with a red collar on.....that pic of them eating was three weeks ago....imagine how big they must be now lol. Or on the first page...the red collar male. I think the 2nd or third page I had posted a pic of the pink collar female, she looks similar to Anubis. She was pick female of the litter. Although I've heard this guy is a judge from torment. He's basically the biggest pain in the butt out there and even made black gang members act like little babies. I'm not afraid of people like that all, they just annoy me for the most part lol. Oh well wish me luck you guys, and hopefully I'll not get picked and be able to pick up Anubis instead of my dad. lol, you're right I will be doing stuff with him. And thankfully....I just went to see about the jury duty...all we did was, everyone was to raise their right hand, they asked a few questions....if you said yes to having a fellony sp? and a few other things then you went up there and then you left. And after the questions we lined up, got asked a few questions, they handed us a book, and a sheet telling when to call seeing when we come in. It will only be either tomorrow, or next Tuesday or next Thursday. And the flights are still a go, but ugh if I had known the jury duty would have been this short I could have picked up Anubis at about 1 pm today.

Oh and if you want a pic, Jim sent me a picture this morning. It's not the BEST quality picture as he took it with his blackberry, but I'll take a really good quality picture in a few days. Usually I can get good pictures that show their coloring much better than the ones I've gotten from him so far. This picture shows his "green ear" from getting his tattoo, and MAN his ears are big haha. Eventually he will grow into them as his head gets even bigger. Ah so the annoyance continues. Delta is now retarded in my book, and the flight has to be scheduled at a later date. He took Anubis to the cargo, they were all set to go, took the dog.....and then call him an hour later to tell him they can't put him on flight tonight because it will be too late when he arrives and some other stuff I can't remember at the moment. I'm sure Jim is as annoyed as I am with them. So it will most likely be Thursday or Friday night now.... We did talk more about Anubis, he said he is DEFINITELY the pick of the litter, and him and his wife would have liked to keep him for their selves. Oh well, looks like I'll be waiting a few more days now to pick up my green eared ankle biter.

Well we now have a flight schedule.....He should arrive in Nashville at 8:10 pm on Friday night. The temps here are suppose to be about 69 Friday, and in the mid 70s where he is leaving from.....hopefully all stays the same. I'll train Anubis to guard the doors of the cargo area so that the workers can't get out. Maybe? lol. Friday is also good because Jim has another dog coming in from the Czech republic...ah I envy him lol. Jury duty for me can only be tomorrow.....or next Tuesday or next Thursday...so we're set on that also. Even at that I hope I don't get picked haha. Oh well, more waiting....lol

lol sure they're cute now, but you couldn't handle even one of them as an adult. But hey if you have $3,000 you can get the other two.

I think she means Schutzhund (correct me if I'm wrong).
How frustrating that your pup's flight has been delayed. I assume you've read the threads on the Database about the airlines curtailing all dog shipments, and only going through brokers. I wonder if this will happen for real, and in the states also. If so, what a mess it will make for breeders, and buyers.

Very frustrating....I get jury duty again today. This is such a stupid case too lol, but yet they say it's "complicated" so we'll be there through Thursday. I'm excited.....not.....

The flights still a go so far. Jury duty lasted from 9am-5:10 today and would have been longer if the judge didn't want to give it a break for the day. I was suppose to work 630-12 am tonight, but did I? Yeah right, thankfully my managers let me off since I have to go back in at 8 in the morning for more jury duty. It will probably last just as long tomorrow, and they said Friday also. By the time Anubis does arrive I'll be so tired I won't be able to do anything with him. I guess when a business gets in trouble for their worker falling asleep during jury duty other business are more than willing to let you off of the midnight shift.

So does that mean you got picked to serve on the jury? Or are you still in the selection process?

I did get picked. The trial has been going on since Tuesday, I got picked Monday. The trial is suppose to go on through at least Friday. Too bad I'm not a liar I could have said I hated insurance companies and got out of it....It does deal with an insurance company also, but hey now if I get called again in a few years I can say I can't stand lawyers because I think they are just paid liars. That should get me out, right? I mean it's true now.

Todays the day. I'm so tired I don't even feel THAT excited now, I just want to lay down and sleep more. I have jury duty AGAIN, and hopefully it's settled. This is indeed the dumbest case, and I'm 99% sure they really could have settled it without the jury instead of wasting our time. I'll be half asleep when I pick Anubis up tonight. At least the weather is suppose to cooperate on all of his destinations before arriving.

I'm so excited for you husky. You may be tired now, but the minute you see that crate, all your exhaustion will be forgotten. The moment you've been waiting for, is so close.
Can't wait to see pics of your new pup in your arms.

I'm home finally. You're right, I was VERY excited ....when I heard him whining haha. He wanted to go to the bathroom....but already this little guy shows a great desire to please. He follows me everywhere on or off leash, and we did take a quick trip to the police station after we got back to Dickson and they all liked him a lot. I'm exhausted for now, so shower, sleep, and then I'll be playing with him tomorrow, and probably get pictures tomorrow also. THANKFULLY he isn't a big whiner so far in his crate. Let's hope he stays quiet once I go back in my room to go to bed. I'll take him out again before I go to bed though, but man he's an awesome puppy. At cargo there was another person there to pick up a puppy....not sure the breed, but then the guy came out....alright so we have one green eared puppy. And then I heard that "green eared puppy" whining and yeah I got excited.
